"Somehow I do not believe that you actually care about my sense of self-worth so I must assume that you are only asking so that I may prove myself to you, but what could I tell you that would convince you of my merit? That I have slaughtered hundreds of Jedi? That I torture little children? I have done neither." - Aezra Vaxxin - [In Biding One's Time]

Biography

Early Childhood

Although the S’kytri are mammals, they stand out amongst most other mammalian species because they do not have live births, but rather, they lay eggs. Because the S’kytri consider their race to be superior to all others, they naturally take great care in protecting the unborn eggs, and if in the rare event an egg is found unprotected, it is the duty of the clan which found the egg to preserve and raise the budding life. Negligent parents, when found, are punished severely for their disregard of the precious S’kytri life, but more often than not, those who demonstrated such despicable apathy fled from their tribes in fear of the repercussions. Aezra Vaxxin’s parents were such individuals.

For many humanoids, such an act would leave their child emotionally scarred when he or she was old enough to understand why they had no parents, but for Aezra, there were no such qualms. While she was a young child, she never even considered her natural parents because the mothers and fathers of the tribe had sufficiently substituted their absence, and she grew older, Aezra came to the conclusion that their abandonment had actually bettered her life; the tribe she was living with was able to provide her with all the necessities to survive and even a few luxuries that made living more enjoyable. In fact, her early years were quite pleasant and gave no indication of the path she would later take in life.

The First Exile

At the age of ten, she was permitted to begin studying one of the traditional S’kytri martial art forms, which was rather common amongst most S’kytri her age. Shortly after she began her training, however, Aezra began displaying an attitude that was decidedly too violent for the S’kytri; she was notably competitive, and even during training spars and mock fights, Aezra was not above severely injuring her youthful opponents. Eventually the tribal leaders came to the conclusion that she was simply too aggressive to continue the training. Needless to say, this angered and confused Aezra; she did not understand why they would teach their children how to fight and incorporate such rituals into their society if they were not meant to be used.

Despite her arguments to remain in the training, the leaders removed her from the discipline, telling Aezra that if she could learn to control her anger and respect the art form as something more than simple acts of violence, she would be able to continue. In the early months after her expulsion, Aezra did try to maintain an appearance of serenity and control, but the adults of the community saw past her efforts, and when the time came to enroll new students into the discipline, Aezra was denied the honor. Enraged that she would be banned from learning how to fight simply because she intended to use the techniques for their true purpose, Aezra decided to renounce her allegiance to the tribe that saved her from inevitable death thirteen years ago.

At first, the small community was adamantly against letting Aezra leave the protection of the clan (again staying with the tradition of valuing S’kytri life above all others), but after another outburst of her anger, the adults came to the conclusion that she was far too dangerous to keep within their territory. There were even some rumors that said Aezra’s true parents knew the rage in their unborn daughter, and they had actually left her to die in order to protect the children of their own tribe; of course, the rumors were never confirmed. Granted permission to abandon the clan, Aezra gathered what little belongings she had and left the only home she had ever known. She felt no remorse for her decision.

While Skye is not a particularly harsh planet, it nevertheless houses obstacles that could be dangerous for an adolescent, even one of a superior race. Fortunately, for Aezra, the tribe she left was actually in proximity to the capital of Skye, and she only spent a week or so fending for herself in the mountainous regions. Unbeknownst to her, however, one of the reasons she was able to successfully navigate the region with little trouble and end up on the right side of town was due to a little Force-sensitive intuition. The small tribe she had lived with never had the means of testing for Force-sensitivity in their residents, and while Jedi would make routine runs to Skye every now and then, they mostly remained in the capital; both situations left Aezra in the dark about her special abilities.

A New Beginning

Upon arrival at the city, a few of the guards of the Majestrix found Aezra wandering the border, and since they were expected to uphold the protection of S’kytri life, they took her to the Majestrix, inquiring what should be done about her presence. The Majestrix asked Aezra why she was not with a tribe, fearing that perhaps one of the clans had been attacked by an unforeseen adversary, but learned that the situation was far more disturbing… Or so the Majestrix was led to believe. Putting on the most grief-stricken act Aezra could, she began weeping, telling the leader of Skye that she had been abandoned by her parents, and when she finally found another tribe to help her, they refused to give her aid. The Majestrix was furious that another clan would refuse to help one of their own, but since there was no solid evidence to prove this was the case, the tribal leaders got off with a warning.

Aezra was somewhat angered that they did not get punished more severely, but at the same time, she was grateful there was no trial; whether it could have been proven or not, word would have spread that Aezra was angry, violent child, which would have lessened the likelihood of her getting another opportunity to be trained with the other S’kytri teenagers (which she now coveted almost completely out of spite rather than a true desire to learn the discipline). Since she was young and lacked talents that would make her valuable in other fields, Aezra convinced the Majestrix to give her permission to return to her training, pledging that she would only use it to protect S’kytri and their way of life. The Majestix agreed.

Learning of Her Force-Sensitivty

As fate would have it, by the time Aezra was about eighteen, two Jedi appeared on their routine check for Force sensitive S’kytri who would make good candidates for the Jedi training. Aezra was still unaware of her connection with the Force, assuming that her intuition and quick reflexes were merely a blessing, but she was nevertheless present while some of the younger children were tested for Force sensitivity, assisting the Jedi in keeping the children under control. One of the Jedi could feel that the Force was quite strong in her, but sadly, she was too old, and more importantly, far too angry to be an appropriate applicant. At the end of their visit, the Jedi gave a report to the Majestrix, mentioning that Aezra was, in fact, Force sensitive, but she would be denied training based on her age and her underlying ire.

Word of her Force sensitivity eventually reached Aezra, and her initial reaction was not anger incited by the Jedi refusing to train her, but sheer shock. She had lived her entire life up until this point completely unaware of her connection with a power far greater than she could ever imagine, and with this realization came a new surge of arrogance; not only was she S’kytri, she was a Force sensitive S’kytri. Aezra cared not that the Jedi had no interest in training her as she found the Jedi to be as confused as the S’kytri when it came to how they approached violence and power, and they had far too many restrictions on how to learn to use the abilities which the Force had so generously provided. Those with the Force were clearly superior to those without it, and Aezra wondered why she now how to obey the laws and rules put in place by an inferior individual.

S'kytri Betrayal

Aezra began contemplating an assassination. The Majestrix had done her no wrong personally, but she felt that he was just too weak to rule. He preached of S’kytri superiority, and yet kept them tucked far away in their small corner of the galaxy, out of the eyes of the general public; Aezra was willing to bet that most species had never even heard of the S’kytri. And how were they able to boast superiority when the S’kytri never fought against any other race? They were unknown. Their power was unknown. And all because their leader lacked the courage to show the galaxy the strength of the S’kytri. It disgusted Aezra.

She began plotting, considering the layout of the Majestrix’s palace, locating the guards who were the weakest (mentally and physically), finding a handful other S’kytri who felt the same way she did, and so forth. After a year, Aezra felt that she had the perfect plan to proceed with getting rid of the weak leader, but failed to account for one highly important detail: The Majestrix was representative of how the S’kytri on a whole felt about their place in the galaxy. One of her co-conspirators suddenly realized that fact, and not only abandoned the plan, but informed the appropriate authorities as necessary; needless to say, Aezra’s coup d'etat failed. The only S’kytri she was able to kill that night was the one who betrayed her.

The Second Exile

The leaders were uncertain of how to punish Aezra, fearing that imprisoning her would not be enough, but capital punishment would only incite the public given that most individuals were convinced she was, at the very least, marginally insane, not evil. They soon decided that she would be exiled from Skye, and in the event that she would return, she would be killed without warning. Aezra took the punishment with little concern, feeling that this was actually an opportunity for her to explore her powers outside the restrictions placed by the S’kytri government. Around this time, Aezra started to lose the contempt she felt for other species, deciding that while S’kytri had the opportunity to be the greatest species of all, on a whole, they were too cowardly to make it happen.

They provided her with a nondescript ship to leave the planet, but gave her no other amenities, perhaps hoping that she would be unable to navigate and die of starvation or land on a planet unsuitable for living. Although the other S’kytri would never learn of it, Aezra was able to make it safely from their system, making her way to the Middle Rim. Life outside of Skye was quite different for Aezra, particularly given her unique appearance, and she learned that she was right in assuming that most individuals were unfamiliar with the S’kytri. A few “seasoned” pilots even laughed at her assertion of being S’kytri, thinking that she was a crazy Falleen wearing some sort of winged costume. Aezra promptly snapped their necks.

She never concerned herself with finding a career that would give her the monetary support she needed in order to survive; instead, Aezra took what she wanted, generally without objection when she would threaten bodily harm to those who had what she sought. Her main focus now that she was away from Skye was to learn as much as she could about the Force and how to manipulate it to her advantage, giving her the power that she craved. While she was familiar with the Jedi, Aezra had never heard of another faction of Force-users, the Sith, on her home world; this fact did not surprise her when she later learned of their philosophy. Information, naturally, was limited in regards to the Sith, and Aezra soon learned that asking openly about the faction was not a wise idea.

Only a few years after her exile from Skye, the Great Jedi Purge took place. Aezra was relatively unfamiliar with the happenings of the galaxy, particularly in the Core Worlds, but an event as large at this one did not go unnoticed, particularly since this spread many of the fleeing Force-users further from the Core and into the Mid and Outer Rims, giving Aezra the perfect opportunity to find others who could provide her with the knowledge she was seeking; if she was truly lucky, perhaps she would even find an enraged Jedi looking for revenge on those who betrayed their kind. Of course, at that point, she was willing to take what she could get.

In the year since, Aezra did not encounter as many Force-users as she had expected, but her desire for greater power and knowledge in the Force has kept her from giving up on finding those who could teach her. Aezra knows that she will find the Sith, and she is supremely confident that when they train her, her patience will yield results beyond her imagination.

Indentification

Personality

It should come as no surprise that being born a S’kytri and likewise raised in their culture that Aezra demonstrates many of the qualities characteristic of said species. Perhaps the most notable attribute is Aezra’s occasional display of arrogance towards “walkers,” a derogatory term S’kytri use to describe other humanoids who were not blessed with the ability to fly.

However, having left Skye years ago, Aezra became more tolerant with walkers (finding S’kytri on a planet other than Skye is rare), and eventually came to the conclusion that even if other members of other species were not biologically equal to S’kytri, they could be useful in a variety of other ways (especially if they were Force-sensitive), whether they were providing her with valuable knowledge or serving as a reminder of her superiority. Nevertheless, when she is angered by an inferior species, it is quite easy for Aezra to return to her arrogant ways.

Her attitude towards war and violence is contrary to the general beliefs of most S’kytri, who feel that war is unnecessary bloodshed. While she does not purposely seek carnage or instigate altercations, Aezra has no qualms with combat, particularly if it is used as a means of cleansing the galaxy of individuals who are weak, ignorant, useless, or otherwise undesirable. In fact, she feels that many S’kytri are confused on their beliefs regarding war as it is common for them to be proficient warriors and yet they do nothing with their talents, making the time spent on learning such abilities inefficient. Aezra highly frowns upon using time (and other resources) inefficiently.

The adage “good things come to those who wait” is one which Aezra lives by. She is a surprisingly patient individual, particularly when it comes to implementing plans and awaiting the benefits. This, of course, is not to say that certain actions and individuals pique her ire. Ironically, Aezra finds individuals who lack patience to be irksome, particularly if their lack of patience translates into actions which compromise her plans and subsequent profits. As a lesser irritation, she often finds that walkers are infatuated with her wings, asking if they are real and then proceeding to touch them without her consent; Aezra finds such actions intolerable, and consequently, has broken a few hands.

Having lived in the Marat System which was located in the Outer Rim, Aezra never concerned herself with the political matters of the Core Worlds. Skye’s overall peaceful nature combined with its remote location and lack of valuable resources led the government to pay little attention to the planet, and likewise, Aezra paid little attention to their struggles. She is far too selfish to concern herself with matters that are of little importance to her, and since most political leaders are neither Force-sensitive nor S’kytri, Aezra does not believe they have earned her respect.

Racial Characteristics

As with all S’kytri, Aezra is humanoid in form with the distinct exception of functional wings that stretch from her shoulder blades. While not in use, said wings fold and curve around her figure, reaching from a little above her ankles to approximately a foot above her head. Fully extended, they have a wingspan of six feet.

The characteristics of the female S’kytri are also evident: Aezra’s skin is jade in pigment, slightly lighter and less vibrant than the more common green skin tone of the Falleen species. With the exception of a long tuft of white hair from the center of her head, she is otherwise bald. Aezra is considered quite tall by most humanoids, standing at six feet, two inches, though she is a little short in comparison to others in her race. As expected of all S’kytri, Aezra keeps her figure trim and muscular.

Appearance

As mentioned, Aezra’s figure is standard of most S’kytri, and her facial structure exhibits the chiseled features that are also common of her species. While by most human standards she has a very exotic appearance, her shapely cheekbones and angular jaw line are actually quite undistinguished amongst other S’kytri females. The contours of her eyes are thin, lightly slanting upwards, and her irises are a vivid yellow which stand in stark contrast to her pallid skin.

Aezra keeps her alabaster hair long by S’kytri conventions, the tips almost reaching the joints which attach her wings to her upper back. Not concerned with trivialities such as jewelry or intricate hairstyles, Aezra lets her mane flow freely, only braiding it if she finds that leaving it down is impractical.

One of the physical elements that truly makes Aezra stand out against other S’kytri is her manner of dressing. Due to their ability to fly and the tropic climate of their planet, most S’kytri only wear clothing as a means of protecting their reproductive organs; Aezra, however, is a little more modest in her apparel. Keeping the needed aerodynamics in mind, she wears a black, sleeveless bodysuit created from a lightweight material and modified to accommodate her unique appendages.

She has a variety of battle scars across her arms and legs, but due to her clothing, they are rarely visible. Aezra has no tattoos.
