Who shall rise when everyone else will fall?

Alaric Drakon Ienné is the former king, prince and senator of the peaceful planet Alderaan, who was exiled when the Empire invaded his planet and eventually took over the entire rock of land. Having to flee his own home, in a snap, Alaric became a fugitive of the galaxy, on the run without any real place to go. A few months later of that happening, he joined the Rebel Alliance, otherwise known as the Rebellion. And was eventually named as a Rebel Leader, due to the fact of his royalty on Alderaan.

Personality

Passed through generations of royalty, Alaric Ienné is a prime example of what a leader is and what a leader should be. To put him in a nutshell, he was simply born a leader. Even at a young age, people have the natural reaction of blindly following his example, regardless if he was given power or not. He is not the one to stay hidden in the shadows or the one to just look on, he would much rather stand forth, let his opinions be voiced and become known to the world. Often, his parents came to the conclusion that if he weren't born into the House of Ienné as Alderaan's heir, he would find some other way of making himself known worldwide, and possibly known to more planets than just Alderaan. But the natural leadership he has isn't the only thing Alaric possesses that makes him eligible for the perfect candidate to run an entire planet; he is also very logical and intelligent, confident and secure, cunning and persuasive, dedicated and willful, decisive and clever.

Having a strong personality that highlights him as a senator and ruler of Alderaan, Alaric keeps a 'senator' image in front of his public, which may come off as somewhat cold and threatening. Although a friendly and open man upon meeting him, he makes sure to keep a strong character in his public to let outside forces know that Alderaan will not be a planet of weakness, even if it is known for being a planet of an extremely peaceful environment. Despite this, however, the people of Alderaan are fully aware that he is willing to do what he can for the better of Alderaan, for it's people, animals and everything else in between. His dedication and loyalty to his planet is expressed openly and freely; he will not choose himself above his planet and his people. Alaric Ienné is, as simple to say, loyal to nothing but his people, who he believes is actually the government of Alderaan, therefore, during his reign, he often consulted them on their views and opinions before acting on anything. He numerously put the peoples' words before his own and rarely acted before asking the peoples' permission. He is deeply loyal, but that loyalty only stretches as far as his people. Ienné is a prime example of someone who believes in teamwork and strength in numbers, as he thinks that acting alone can cause problems, considering that two heads can see more than one, while three heads are better than two. Never will he actually act alone unless he is forced too, which is, ultimately, rare.

The former senator of Alderaan has always been logical and intelligent, even considered having a higher IQ than generations of the royal family. His intelligence stretches beyond just the knowledge of basic things, but through wisdom and logic. His wisdom is more expressed through his patience of things and is usually the last person to rush into something without fully considering all options and all outcomes. He is not a daredevil and will never be one and only faces what he feels he has to, otherwise tries to think of a better option that will lead to less destruction, anger, and death. Through the face of danger, Alaric has enough logic to not loose his head and actually remains unbelievably calm and focused in most situations that might panic other people. He believes that keeping a leveled head is the key into overcoming whatever there is to overcome and has often proved to be a great strength in his personality. He is also the type to look at things from a different angle and can often see something that many other people can miss, which is another reason why he is considered a great senator and Ruler.

Although considered one of the best senators of Alderaan in the name of history for his achievements, Ienné often disregarded his accomplishments and usually shrugged off compliments. He is not egoistic and actually believes that he could have done a better job at his time as the Senator of Alderaan and heir to the throne. He is also known to be sharp-tongued and witty, often boils down to sarcasm that is usually undetectable, sort of like a scalpel plucking away at you little by little. This sarcasm, however, is only shown with close friends or people he knows will not take such words offensively. Although an usual open and kind person, he keeps a certain place hidden from most people and only lets a few of the close friends in to see the other side of him. Not the stereotypical of having a nice outside but mean inside, his inside self usually reflects on the pressure of being a senator and almost dislike at being the heir to the Alderaan throne, as well as the expectations that his parents sent on him when he was a small child. Despite his hidden loathe of being a Senator, Alaric understands that the job was given to him, and with his strong sense of determination, he's not willing to let something as this overcome him, and therefore stands by as a Senator. Eventually, through his age and increase of experience and wisdom, he's finally able to come to term with these intense feelings of hate towards the destiny that was thrown at him, and is able to feel as if he was lucky to gain such power and importance on the planet.

Alaric's beliefs include the confidence that is in a man. He feels that without that high self-esteem and confidence level, you would end up at the bottom of the food chain. But he is also aware that along with a high sense of secure, he is very prone to becoming too bigheaded and becoming arrogant. Therefore, he keeps careful watch of his confidence level and tries as he might to keep from gaining a smug feeling, as he knows that in the past, several great rulers had lost their empire from their over confidence. And because of his honesty, he often consults his closer friends to tell him if he's reaching a point of being called arrogant. Through their help and with his father's morality teaching, he is able to always be hard on himself and expect nothing but the best and perfection, thus preventing him from gaining a big head. Ienné posses integrity and will always do what is right, even if it goes against his people or someone he admires. If he feels it's the right thing to do (regardless if stupid) then he will do it. Never, ever will he do anything that is wrong in his mind. He mostly takes the time to listen to other people and their views, likes to ask and regard their opinion and usually takes into consideration everything being said before making a final decision. However, if he's truly set his mind (determination), he won't listen to anyone.

Being a senator, Alaric Ienné is almost forced to be cunning and persuasive. For the most part, his charming personality is the main weapon in persuading people, and although this sort of technique and gift can be abused, since Ienné is highly moral, he will never actually use his charming persuasion skills unless he feels he has to. When it comes to persuasion, he almost doesn't need it since his people trust him and are often included on the decisions, but, on several occasions, he has found the technique quite useful. However, Alaric is known to have a cunning and mischievous streak in him that he lets free. Although keeping a strict man in his public, he still has a reputation of pulling pranks on his friends and often getting pranked himself. Because he knows that these simply games, he'll never have bitter feelings towards these pranks, knowing that his friends would never hurt him on purpose. In this, he's also a very forgiving guy, which might lead as a weakness, since he can be gullible; something that he tries to suppress because he feels it's not a trait suitable for a Senator and Prince. But he has found that being cunning and somewhat mischievous is a useful trait to have in being a senator, since he can (and will) use his cunningness to get what he wants.

Besides the leadership skill that he possesses, Ienné takes great confidence and pride in his dedicated (and leadership) nature. If he sets his mind into anything, whether it's what's for dinner, or for a senatorial debate, he will get it done. And he will stop at nothing to see that it is done. He believes that being dedicated is what forms a senator into being a great senator. But, it's not only the senate is he dedicated and mind-set about, he's dedicated about everything, including his family, friends and everything else in between. His strong and devoted dedication is usually the first thing people will sense about him and probably the thing that people respect him most for, even over his leadership talents. Tying in with his dedication, he's also very willful, with the sane as when there's a will, there's way.

Fortunately, Ienné's dedication is almost due to the fact that he's very decisive. Never has he had the problem of not knowing what to actually do, which proves to be a great strength in being a senator, considering that he wastes no time in being unclear of which is the right path. Because of the quickness of his decision, he's also called quite impulsive, but which is not the case. Ienné will consider and seriously think of all possible situations that he can hear or come up with, and once he's heard them or thought them out to his satisfaction, he chooses the best path without wasting another second, while not just jumping into whatever situation that might strike up first. Once he's made up his mind, he's made up his mind and he'll never change it. This sort of decisive nature is fortunate because Ienné wastes no time, especially in urgent matters. There is no hesitance in giving a decision, as he feels that the more the wait, the more damage is being done. Only what is done now is productive. However, this is also called being stubborn and Ienné is, to put bluntly, strong-headed and incredibly stubborn. If there is no proof that he is wrong, he will stick with his decision and will not falter, and rarely is anyone able to find a hole in his plan. However, if found a missing point, he will admit his wronging and will apologize, since he feels it's not fair to himself or his people to keep going on if it's a something proven to end badly.

Possessing the traits that make the perfect ruler of a Planet and representative of Alderaan, Alaric is exactly what the people needed and a prime example of what a senator is and should be. Having leadership, dedication, intelligence and confidence, he is able to become the leader that most people either cannot stride forward or people who wish to only step forth when no one else is available.

History

Royal House of Ienné

Along with several other royal houses such as Clarke and Zenell, the House of Ienné is one of the more popular royal families of Alderaan. Particularly, the House of Ienné is mostly known for their building in the militaristic defense of Alderaan (and in one special case of Alaric's great grandfather, Jonas, in supporting the female cause over the male) among other several non-important political issues that usually, if the rebellion and empire had existed in their time of rule, had ideals the same as the rebellion, though very little imperialistic support, as well as issues dealing with inside the planet, such as elderly benefits and natural resource options.

Being one of the oldest royal families (along with the ancient family of Hakké, which died out when its last descendant passed away without an heir just a few years before Alaric was reigned as Prince of Alderaan), the House of Ienné dates back until the terraforming of Alderaan, when human settlers first landed on Alderaan. The government system of democracy through monarchy has been one of Alderaan's strongest points in preventing mutinies, but able to have a reigning family was developed through the ideals of several people, including the first ancestors of the Ienné family. The first of ancestors on the Ienné family, a husband and wife (whose names were lost in the records because of the battles that enraged on Alderaan during Alaric's term in office), who were highly educated and naturally had the leadership stature, had eventually gained office when the people had decided on the election of their government. They were among the first to be highlighted as King and Queen, although were not the first to be elected in the first few terms that they ran. Finally, after three terms that they had lost, the couple had finally gained access to the government and was officially named as a royal family and since then, had created history, always making sure to leave at least one heir to the Ienné Royal Family.

Several traditions follow the Royal House of Ienné, including continuing the building in the militaristic expansion of Alderaan. All Ienné heirs had done at least two things in order to strengthen the military of Alderaan through all branches of the air, water and ground, some focused more on the tradition, while others, much as Alaric, focused on everything considering Alderaan. Because Alderaan was known as a peaceful planet, the Ienné's found building the military of the planet very important, and all Ienné heirs do not fail to see this or believe this, or act in this.

Another tradition that the House of Ienné has is that all Alderaan heirs were male. A female Ienné wouldn't even been given the title of Princess until clinically proven that the couple would be unable to produce a boy child. Although this tradition was played by accident, considering that seven generations had a male heir, it continues until this day in the office of Alaric. Also tradition, all Ienné families were required to leave at least one heir to the throne, which is one of the reasons why the House of Ienné is an old family, as well as a reason it could stay in office for several terms on one family (although the House of Ienné was often elected throughout the years, there are several times where there are gaps in which other royal families have served as the government.)

Because the Ienné's are also highly prideful in their blood and planet, sometimes even considered a little close-minded as they also took importance in humans, no half-breeds or a different species, should be the heir (Alaric's father being the only one who violated this tradition and produced a half-breed as an heir) to Alderaan, it is likely that they all will continue these traditions until a black sheep is born in the house. One last tradition that might be worth mentioning is the fact that for generations, the Ienne family has given the crown prince's middle name the name of their father. For example, Alaric's full name is Alaric Drakon Ienné, his father's name is Drakon. Drakon's full name is Drakon Alec Ienné, which his fathers name was Banel Alec Ienné.

Note: The mention that Jonas had particularly favored the womens' suffrage to mens' is because of the tradition that the House of Ienné typically took to the mens' needs before the womens', that men were superior. The people's views of the Ienné house had changed into something more positive (mainly in the women population) when Jonas took office. This is also important through traditions because it's traditionally how an Ienné rules a planet, covering the men before the women.

Drakon Alec Ienné

Forced into office at the age of eighteen when his father died midterm, Drakon Ienné would admit to himself that he could have been a better ruler of Alderaan. Although, at the time, having a bit of a strong head, not to mention an arrogant attitude, he believed that everything he did was for the planet, which, in some people's eyes, was worth electing Drakon, knowing that he'd do anything to keep Alderaan at peace, something that his son, Alaric, had inherited.

Carrying the Ienné tradition, Drakon continued to focus solely on building the Alderaan military, strengthening its defenses and offenses. As an Ienné, carrying on this tradition would have happened anyway, but many would consider that Drakon had a sixth sense, sort of saw things before they happened. Because he felt something, although he still wouldn't say exactly what he felt considering he didn't actually know, he spent a lot of his office time developing the military. But to narrow that path, Drakon spent most of his time focusing on the offense part of the military, always developing new weaponry and technology that would aide the Alderaan offense. One of his most anticipated and would-be successful upgrading would be inventing a space cruiser faster than given the galaxy record, however, that project was only blueprinted and made about halfway through completion when Drakon was forced out of office just before Riiane gave birth to Alaric and the succeeding house abandoned the building.

During his terms as the Viceroy of Alderaan, Drakon spent so much time focusing on the militaristic point of Alderaan, that he almost completely ignored the factions revolving around the political issues. However, just because Drakon abandoned involving Alderaan in the Galactic Senate doesn't mean that he didn't know what was going on. He knew full well the issues that rose and fell, the new bills that were passed if there were any and he knew anything considering the Senate, he just did not participate. Because of the lack of response the people got from the political issues, the Ienné's reputation began to dramatically drop, eventually having Drakon resign from the royal monarchy. But, since tradition of the Alderaan government, he was still allowed a position on the High Council and stayed there until he felt ready to rerun for the higher monarchy.

Although ashamed through the events that happened in his previous term, the Royal House of Ienné had still enough respect that they'd gain enough favor from the other royal houses, thus letting Drakon win by a spinning loose thread. Through here, he promised to give what he owned, give what he did not give beforehand, making sure to involve Alderaan far more often with the political issues, while still continuing on strengthening the military. The blueprints of his invented spaceship were lost among the other houses and Ienné was forced to redo the entire thing over, although he soon gave up and focused himself on other, far more pressing, matters of the building of the military. Through his term, the House of Ienné gained back the favor it lost plus a lot more, since that Drakon showed he was a great leader and his promised son would also make a fine leader. Several years later, able to get over his wife's death, he began to speak of retirement, leaving his son Alderaan.

However, he died instantly in a freak accident while on his way to Bakura, permanently leaving his son the only member of the Royal House of Ienné until he decides to marry and have a child.

Alaric Drakon Ienné

Born to the Kiffar and the Human descent, Alaric Ienné was considered one of the most successful and best leaders of Alderaan. His father, Drakon Ienné, was the former Senator, Prince and Viceroy of Alderaan, who was known for his militaristic offense and defense and focused on building up the Alderaan Army, Navy and Air Force just as all Ienné heirs, but Drakon also often left the political issues alone or completely neglected them. When he resigned as Senator after he gave office as the Viceroy (the highest ranking in the Alderaan monarchy) and was appointed in the High Council of Alderaan, he impregnated a Kiffar woman named Riiane Baccara, whom he saved from the prison planet, Kiffu, while he was there doing business. And thus the beginning of Alaric Ienné's life. Shortly before Alaric's birth, Drakon and Riiane married.

Coming into the new world on December 30 in Alderaan, Alaric Ienné had a childhood life of luxury and happiness due to success of his father as senator and the money value of the family. Because another royal house was currently serving as Alderaan's monarch after Drakon left office, Alaric was not considered an actual prince of Alderaan until his father decided to run again when Alaric was five years of age, when the entire royal House of Clarke (the succeeding family) was either killed completely off or all descendants had passed away. His father had taken seven years off of the Alderaan royalty (but was in the High Council) in order to rest the hotheadedness of his people due to this previous term and to spend more time with his family as he worked in the High Council and his mother (who was notorious for keeping her past a hidden secret from even her husband and son) was a housewife, but was also learning from Drakon's political teachings, while continuing going to school when Drakon was elected again. Just by a hairspread, the House of Ienné won (because of the militaristic growth that had happened during Drakon's reign, therefore regaining favor among the people, even with the scandal of neglecting the political issues of the Senate) the election and Alaric, at the age of five, was dubbed as the current Prince of Alderaan as well as heir to the throne since he was the couple's only child. From here on, Alderaan continued to strengthen its military (as well as involving Alderaan more into the political issues, which Drakon vowed to do when he re-entered office) while, this time, Drakon began to renew his teachings, but instead took on the task to teach his son the ideas of the monarch and his morality on ruling Alderaan, while Riiane just finished schooling. As a child, Alaric was always a sharp and intelligent boy, and he strongly showed of the leadership quality that was the most important when it came to ruling a planet. He practically absorbed everything his father told him like a sponge and even came to his own conclusions on the several different issues.

But that happiness had taken a drastic change three years later when Alaric was eight years of age. His mother, Riiane, grew deathly ill and passed away shortly thereafter of the illness. Partly because of the early death of his mother, Alaric never had markings painted on his face that the Kiffar are known to have. However, the lack of these markings is mostly because of the fact that his father, although loving Riiane unconditionally, believed that in the eyes of it's people, a half-breed would not be suitable to rule a planet (the fact that Riiane was Kiffar was unknown to the population and kept secret with a great deal of effort and money). Therefore, there is no way to indicate that Alaric was part of another race and most believed that he was completely human. Alaric, seemingly trusting his father's opinion grew no objection, and therefore ran his life as a normal being with no conflicts between his parents and coped well with his mother's lost. As a way of honoring her, he vowed to become the best Prince, Senator and Viceroy of Alderaan.

However, Drakon's reaction to the death of his wife had taken such a toll on him. Although he continued to rule the planet, there were several times where his officials had to cover up his public image, which caused some suspicion and eventually, Drakon was, once again, ruled out of office after five years when the Prince was thirteen years old. Alaric, always having to look up to his father for his achievements and popularity, had really taken both offense and somewhat confusion to the grief of his father and how differently he changed in just five years. It was at this point where the Ienné family really began to fall in the ranks of the political senate and royal family. It almost seemed as if they dropped off the face of Alderaan, since that Drakon simply refused to serve on the High Council after he was elected out of office. For a year after his lost, he spent a lot of time depressed, causing his son the same reaction. Finally, fed up with this, a good and long time friend of Drakon, named Hans Polylin, had taken heed to this devastation and the effect that it caused on Alaric. He got the two of them up on their feet, got them to run again with his words of wisdom and encouragement. And, being the once-again popular and highly liked royal family, they were elected again after running twice when Hans got the Ienné family up.

For the next three years after being reelected, when Alaric was from sixteen to nineteen, he became known as a highly expected ruler and was often put under pressure of exceeding his father's doing into becoming an even better Viceroy. But, during these three years, Alaric became aware of his psychometry, or the ability to see memories through touching inanimate objects, that he inherited from his Kiffar mother, which was, at first weak and almost never used. However, with practice, the ability became stronger and stronger. But the process is slow and even at the age of forty-one, Alaric feels that there is still more to this ability than he has. At first, this new power was frightening; he would simply touch something and automatically be hit with a vision of a scene from the objects of the past. As much as there were happy visions, memories, there were also bad ones and Alaric tried extremely hard to hide this ability, knowing that it was not supposed to be a human trait. However, as parents are so perceptive, his father finally pried out the truth and mistakenly thought that this was a sign for Alaric to be force sensitive. From there, he sent Alaric to Curoscant at the age of seventeen in order to meet the Jedi Order to see if he'd be trained as a Jedi, but was forced to see the truth that Alaric was not force sensitive when they explained to him what Alaric's ability exactly was. Because of the origin of this power was known, Alaric has become more comfortable with it and can even gained somewhat control when he sees the visions or not during the next years that he lived.

However, this opened doors for Alaric that would be otherwise closed. Because of this mistake, Alaric began to become known to the Jedi, and as a child from sixteen, he admired their power, wisdom and morale, often wishing that he could be one. Liking the youth's enthusiasm and outgoing personality, they continued to humor him until he was nineteen and by then, he had gained such an affiliation with the Jedi Order that he was often welcome among their kind. Alaric, knowing of their abilities, would usually come to them in decisions that he could not decide on while he was in office as the Viceroy of Alderaan. It was the Jedi that introduced him to the forming of the rebellion when he was practically forced out of office when the Empire took over the planet.

His father, now several years later with no particular event that would be life changing, was thinking of retiring from office and giving his son the position as Viceroy of Alderaan when Alaric was twenty-eight years old. Thinking that this age was a good time for his son to take the throne, considering he took his office at the tender age of eighteen when his father died of a long term illness, he gave up the role as the Viceroy of Alderaan and appointed his son while continuing to serve in the High Council for a few more years. For the first beginning of Alaric's years as the viceroy, he continued the tradition that Ienné family set, mainly focusing on the military of Alderaan, but also made sure to involve himself in the political issues as well as planetary discussions regarding to his people. Because he masterfully balanced these three, the people of Alderaan considered him a great leader, keeping the planet in peace for the years before corruption was seen in the Senate.

In the late year of when Alaric was thirty, Alaric lost his father to a freak accident when his father was on a mission to Bakura on business regarding the High Council. Although it seemed as if it were an accident, Alaric knew better and immediately suspected that it was an assassination. Among his father, also killed in the accident were several important high officials of the Alderaan High Council, including another end of a royal house of Alderaan, the Royal House of Bane, which succeeded the Ienné house after the passing of the House of Clarke.

After four years of pulling together, Nila and Alaric both become officially suspicious of the current Supreme Chancellor. Although they couldn't act on these feelings, Nila often told Alaric of the operations that she held behind the scenes, including the investigation of several Senators believed to be corrupted and the involvement of the Jedi. Although Alaric took no participation in these secret operations, nor any involvement in the forming of the Rebellion, he had agreed to help Nila if she was in need of anything that would require his skill and knowledge. Towards the end of the fifth year that Nila and Alaric worked together, Nila had asked for extra troops on a planet that was said to be invaded by the imperial troops, their worst fears now likely to happen. Without hesitation and completely trust in Nila's decision, Alaric sent out several troops to aide the invaded planet, without even considering that his own planet might be a target of the Empire. It was almost inevitable that during the time his troops were helping another planet, Alderaan was invaded by the Imperial troops. Alaric received word that Bakura had been invaded just several hours before, the supposed planet that was to be invaded was a decoy. With most of his troops off-planet, he tried to muster up the rest of his troops that remained on Alderaan, but the moment Alaric saw the massive Imperial army, he knew the planet was lost. His planet was lost.

Then forced out of office, he was taken into hiding, just escaping the Imperial army by a hairspread. Although he wished not to leave his people in the hands of the Empire, he had the logic that it was most affordable for him to still live. With the uncontrolling anger that rolled in him on the Empire that has risen to the top, he has become an active member of the Rebellion, participating in as many battles, political issues and meetings as he could, more than happy to bring the Empire down and the rightful democratic senate back to the galaxy.

Other Facts

  • Name is pronounced "Ah - lar (as in flare) - ik, Dra - con, E - en - a". Alaric Drakon Ienné.
  • Unlike the Kiffar, Alaric Ienné's face is not marred by any painted designs or markings, which enables Alaric to hide the fact that he is half Kiffar and half human. The lack of these markings is partially due to the fact that his mother had died at a young age (to the point where Alaric can't even remember her face), but mostly because his father believed that the people of an Alderaan would not see a half-breed suitable for the role of ruling or representing a planet.
  • His hair, styled the typical short length without really bothering to do anything fancy with it, is almost the same color as his eyes with a sort of in-between light and medium brown color. There are no highlights or coloring, the brown color is his natural and he doesn't plan to change that. And unlike the Kiffar, who usually have long hair and pulled into dreadlocks, he has fine and silky hair with small detects of the nappy side, which he is thankful to his father.
  • He is psychometric, which means that he is able to see (telepathically) into the past simply by coming into contact with something. He is NOT force sensitive, but has been mistakenly labeled one because of his psychometry, having said that, his psychometry is nothing special and even rarely exists, considering he only gets those visions very few times. Nonetheless, if he willed it and wanted it bad enough, he can control the power into showing him something but only in a desperate time that calls for desperate measures, as he doesn't like to abuse this power.
  • His build is muscular, nothing over-defined or underweight. Although he doesn't work out as much as he used too when he was younger, he has the metabolism of a child as he never seens to gain any weight at all even though he's been known to eat like a pig.
  • He is, in fact, infatuated with Rhiara D'Loroc, the former (although at the time he actually knew her, she still was) senator of Bellassa. Not necessarily a crush or love, just an infatuation that springs whenever he sees her or hears her name, otherwise she is buried underneath.
