The Mentors are a group of individuals dedicated to guiding, helping and supporting the members of Star Wars: Evolution. Through the process of creating Character Applications, finding avatars, entering threads or generally finding your way in the unique Evolution story, and even into our politics, teams, and general questions you may come across day to day, the Mentors are here to help. Should any member have questions regarding SWE, they should be directed to the Mentors. You can do this a number of ways. Simply follow the steps on this page to learn how the Mentors can help you, and how you can help your Mentors.  
Shortly after registration each new member should receive and automated Private Message from Camilla Cale. This is the Face of the Mentor Team. Sort of a universal screen name each of the Mentors have access to, and use to post different kinds of messages around the board. Shortly after you receive this message, once the Mentors have had the chance to create a record of you, one or both will send a personalized message Welcoming you to the board, and reminding you that if any aid at all is needed, all you need do is ask. In the message Camilla Cale sends you there will be a very useful list of links to follow, including the Back Story and Rules. If, for some reason, you never received this message please either post this problem in the SWE 101 forum, or send a Private Message to one of your Mentors. After you’ve gone through the process of creating your Character Application, it has been read over by the BAC and approved you should receive another Private Message from one of your Mentors. This will detail the things you need to know now that you’re a full member of Star Wars: Evolution, including different ideas on how to get started in threads. Feel free to respond to either of these messages if you have any questions.  SWE 101 is a private forum only seen by the newly registered uses of SWE, the Directors, and those individuals on the Mentor Team. By creating the forum in this way it allows new members to feel a little more comfortable when posting questions, especially if they feel them trivial. We want to stress that, no matter how small the question may be, there’s no reason to feel embarrassed about asking for help. Everyone does, even those who have been assigned to give aid sometimes need the assistance of others. SWE is a member run community. Without your questions, how can we make things better? So, anything from where you can find a list of claimed avatars, to how to upload signatures, and especially anything that has to do with your characters creation or involvement in the story should be asked here. To post a question, merely click the “Topic” button at the top of the page. Title your post accordingly, then type whatever questions you may have and a member of the Mentor team, or one of our Directors, will answer you shortly. In this forum you will also find “How-to Join SWE”. A newly redone checklist of the things new members need to do when joining the board. This list walks you through the important steps, provides useful links and suggestions, and informs you of who to contact if you have faction related questions. We urge each member to take advantage of this. If you prefer a more private forum of requesting aid, you can feel free to send a Private Message to either Flare Storm or Astrade Tur’esta, and your questions will be kept confidential.  101 Chat is a room in SWEs chat server, which was created for the purpose of Mentors speaking one on one with the members of SWE. By doing this you can get real time help, have your questions answered instantly, and all the other benefits that come along with speaking to a person directly, rather than through thread posts or Private Messages. As of right now there is no exact schedule, but if you wish to request a time where you can speak to a Mentor in chat, we urge to you either post in the SWE 101 thread entitled ’SWE 101 chat room’, saying you would like to take advantage of this service and post the possible times to meet up with you. (We ask this because not all members are on the same time zone, or even the same country. What may seem like a perfectly reasonable time to you might be a bit of an incontinence to the Mentors, so its best to plan head.) Or you can do one of the following. From time to time the Mentors will simply sit in their chat room and wait for members to come in with their questions. If you see this, feel free to enter and ask any questions you may need answering, even if they aren’t something you need done right away. The sooner and more often we can help the better. If the Mentors are scheduling a chat they will post a thread either in SWE 101, or on another area of the board where all members can see the posted time and take advantage of their service.  Even with all the different methods of requesting and receiving aid from Evolution’s Mentors, we’ve recently come out with a process called ‘Personal Mentor Service’. This is where a member of SWE can request one on one attention from a Mentor through the entire process of Character Application creation, getting accepted, and then getting started in IC threads. We can also provide this service through other area’s of Evolution, but the acceptance process is the most popularly requested. If you would like to take advantage of the Personal Mentor Service, there are a couple ways you may go about it. The first is, of course, by using the SWE 101 thread. You can post your request for a personal Mentor, and if you feel comfortable, what sort of help you will be requiring. One of the Mentors will respond to your message, informing you that they will contact you soon. Shortly after you see this message you should receive a Private Message from the Mentor. If you would prefer to keep your request private, the simply send a Private Message to one of our Mentors, requesting their personal service. This is what we’re here for, and always are we eager to help. When you use this service everything is done in confidence, the many questions you may asked kept between you and your Mentor. We would like to stress that, where we are more than willing to help guide you along the process, we will NOT write character biographies for you.  Whether you’re one of SWE’s newer members or an old timer, everyone has wanted their work critiqued at some point or another. Often we ask our friends for their opinions, but in return we receive the default answers. I think you’re great, don’t change anything, ect. Where this is nice to hear, it doesn’t help us grow as writers. In order to do that we need honest opinions and suggestion. This is where the Mentor Team comes into play. Now, this is a topic that has been discussed extensively in the past, and until now it’s been turned down for a variety of reasons... But times are changing. SWE is going into an entirely new era, and with that shift everyone wants to make the board a better place. This means offering more team services, more member aid and generally upgrading everything we can. We’re not here to tear apart members posts or tell them that they suck. We don’t assume that we’re better than other people just because we’re offering the service, and we’re not going to lie to members. Where we honestly offer our suggestion and opinion we will also offer our compliments. This is a critique, not a bash fest. This is going to be a 100% private service. No one outside of yourself and the members of the Mentor Team, who will be performing the service, will know that you even requested it, much less what you got back in return. If you would like to take advantage of this, please follow these simple steps. PM one of the Mentors. Either Flare Storm or Astrade Tur’esta requesting critique. If you could, please list any ACTIVE threads you’re currently in with any of your characters. If you have three characters and each are active in multiple threads, please list what character is in what thread. We can get a better idea of your writing by looking at various area’s and different characters. Once this is done we will give you an estimated time of completion. The Mentor Team will gather sample posts for your different threads and characters, then post them in our private forum. A discussion will begin offering both our compliments on your writing style, and our suggestions. Once the discussion is over and our critique properly written up, we will PM you our response. You are more than welcome to reply again with any questions you may have on our critique.
