Tempest Squadron is an X-Wing squadron allegiant to the Rebel Alliance and the restoration of the Galactic Republic. Comprised of twelve X-Wing starfighters, Tempest is presently the elite squadron of the blossoming alliance and is utilized whenever a critical mission arises.

Purchased in part with aid from the Mon Calamari, the X-Wings are all T-65 models constructed by Incom Corporation. Tempest Squadron's flight suits and X-Wings range between blue, black and gray in terms of coloration, and their logo is that of a swirling storm. All pilots and technicians are bestowed the use of Astromech droids to assist with monitoring ship components and making emergency repairs to the craft if necessary. Melsa Bryn is the current commanding officer.

Assembled from a variety of sources and ideas, Tempest Squadron's origins actually began under a different name.

Following the dissolution of the Galactic Senate by rising Emperor Edwis Josdon, a few vocal cells of rebellion flared throughout the galaxy before being put down by the military might of the Empire. In following, these opposing, including any surviving Jedi, began to plan their small revolutions quietly and in relative isolation so as not to invite the wrath of Josden's stormtroopers.

Over time, several cells learned of others, and new ones emerged in the wake of planetary invasions such as Bellassa. Deciding to combine efforts, these groups, including former politicians, surviving Jedi, and many Mon Calamari, assimilated their efforts into a larger movement and based themselves in a hidden Jedi stronghold. Located in an asteroid field, the floating base, known as Sanctum was home to the larger Alliance's birth, whereas the politician's attempted to recruit more systems to their cause, the Jedi aiding where possible and the Mon Calamari helping in securing ships for a small, and formally nonexistent, fleet.

Despite combining resources, in direct comparison to the Empire, the Alliance was still nothing more than a handful of visionaries. Resultant, little happened to make themselves known to the larger universe, although other, smaller cells were soon beginning to crop up throughout the galaxy. The later invasion of Corellia would only spawn a new wave of malcontents determined to see the Empire fall.

During their tenure on the asteroid base of Sanctum, the Rebels found their comfortable security compromised as a heavily armed band of pirates, led by Jergen Callow, attacked the base intent on making it their own. Taken by surprise and largely unprepared for combat, Sanctum was rocked by horrific bombardments as all inhabitants, including Bellassan refugees, attempted to evacuate. Arriving late in the battle, the Alliance's freshly prepared fleet countered the pirates' attack and an all out space battle soon erupted. With a fresh batch of X-Wing fighters resting in the fleet's possession now, a small group of pilots, led by one Melsa Bryn, took to battling the pirates starfighters under the impromptu name of 'Gold Squadron.'

Taking heavy casualties at the hands of Callow's pirate band, Gold Squadron limped home to the Mon Calamari flagship as a ceasefire ended the battle. The inexperienced group losing many in the combat, Gold Squadron was no more now than a few surviving individuals. From there, the Alliance traveled to their new headquarters on the obscure, Outer Rim planet of Sernpidal. With the fleet orbiting the planet, all unnecessary personnel were dispatched to the surface in order to help prepare the new rebel home. As workers toiled on the surface of Sernpidal, the Alliance worked feverishly to repair their ships and plans, and with hard work, three squadrons of pilots were assembled. Of these three, Tempest Squadron was borne of Gold Squadron's ashes and Melsa Bryn once again tackled the role of commanding officer.

A Restoration of Order II: Chaos
Though technically not known as Tempest Squadron at the time, several ships and pilots that comprised Gold Squadron now make up the core of the current group. As the fresh Rebel Fleet arrived at the Alliance base of Sanctum, they found it under violent attack by a band of heavily armed pirates, led by Jergen Callow.

The brand new X-Wings on board the Mon Calamari flagship were scrambled with what pilots were available. Among that number were present Commanding Officer, Melsa Bryn, and pilot, Tais Voru. Fighting valiantly against the rogues in their piecemeal fighters, without any formal training, the impromptu rebel squad suffered heavy casualties. Limping back to the Rebel cruiser once a ceasefire was arranged, a few of Gold Squadron's survivors now make up the present, Tempest Squadron.

Born on Coruscant to Devane and Miriam Erat, Ethan was the oldest of three brothers. His father was a reputable businessman employed by Bin Gassi Racing Engines. As such, the family lived a fairly well-to-do life and neither he nor his brothers ever wanted for anything. And with his father's business, Ethan learned at a young age how to pilot various craft as well as became attached to swoop racing. With all the exposure, it was little wonder that both he and his brother, Darien, enrolled at the Republic Flight Academy shortly after their preliminary schooling was completed.

Each of the two brothers excelled at the Academy, though neither of them took any top honors. Ethan was always slightly better in the cockpit and did his best to ensure that Darien was just as capable. It became his own personal quest that his brother succeed. It was also something that his parents had implied in regards to them both going off. With Darien a year behind, it was fairly easy for Ethan to keep him up to speed on what he could expect and during their summer breaks, Ethan continued to help Darien along... Contrary to the typical light-hearted playfulness that many pilots adopt as their default state, Gendil is what most would consider to be downright grumpy. If not existing in a gentle state of reserved melancholy, he can usually be seen with a scowl or darker expression on his features, very much indicative of a more cynical attitude to life than his collegues tend to adopt. It is, then, hardly surprising that he is often irritated by the more relaxed antics of the other pilots. A dour individual, he is never really known to do anything other than be serious, except when the others can get him a little tipsy, at which point he lightens up a little.

This noted, he is not completely without a sense of humour - his is simply far darker than that shared by the majority of people he works with. He tends more towards being amused by other people finding themselves in some form of trouble which could, he often observes, have been avoided if they had listened to him in the first place... Being raised by a father who was once a Jedi, a mother who was a pediatrician, and having a grandfather who was a well-respected former Senator, was not easy. Though the family was among the prestigious social class of Alderaanian society and the two children (Jayse and Evangeline) were well provided for, Garret and Zaira did not want to raise them as spoiled brats. Garret instilled a sense of honor and value into the children, and showed Jayse daily the values and rewards of working hard to earn one's way in the world.

Jayse and Evangeline were raised equally. That is to say that neither one was shown... Read more about Jayse Drykin

Vyse’s history begins with a Chiss soldier who would later be known as the bounty hunter Haert. Haert was a loyal soldier to his commander, and that loyalty would eventually have him banished. It happened shortly after Haert was given command of his own ship, and was on routine patrol with his commander, who was onboard another ship. There they came across a Tof ship that had accidentally flew into their boarders. Haert and his old mentor gave chase to the ship, even after having specific orders not to follow it past their territory. They did, and engaged several more Tof ships, until finally pulling back when their ships took too much damage.

When they returned they were stripped of their commands and faced judgment. With their exploits they had nearly triggered a war, and had disobeyed direct orders. Their punishment was swift and harsh, they were to be exiled. They spent ten years surviving off an uninhabited world until one day a pirate ship landed, looking to hide from the authorities for a while... Read more about Vyse Toraez
