Chapter III: The Jedi Investigation
From An Evolution in RP :: Database
Lorus went before the Council and expressed the fears of Senator Wyn and they granted him permission to take 2 other Jedi and investigate the claims covertly. Lorus himself went to Byss and viewed first hand the facilities Senator Erall owned. The luxury, the elegance, the price tag; there were not the type facilities a Senator with no other holdings would own, not on a Senatorial salary.
The venerable Master used whatever means necessary and gained access to Erall’s bank accounts. Payment after payment came in from the same numbered account. More investigation would be needed to find the source of this account, but signs pointed to illegal activities. Rumors persisted that it was Black Sun, and every part of evidence corroborated these claims.
The visions he’d had as a younger Knight and Master were coming to pass, the corruption of the Senate. He feared the death of the Jedi Order was soon to follow. At least he’d taken precautions to ensure the future of the Jedi when he took on Aeria as an apprentice and ‘denied’ her brother Tais. It may have been minor, but it was something at least, if his visions did come to pass. He hoped to the Force they did not.
He sent word to his fellow investigators to meet on Thyferra upon completion of their searches. Not sure why, but he knew the next step in his destiny would await him on the planet.
On Kuat, Jedi Knight Hirna Dun, a female Quiraash tracked down information not unlike that of Master Lorus. Properties a Senator shouldn’t have, monies in numerous accounts dating back some five years, and even potential links to the assassination of other Senators. The news was not pretty, but not unexpected. Jedi had an innate instinct, and hers told her things were amiss on the planet and in the Senate.
She collected her information and made haste for Thyferra.
Finally on Ord Mantell, Junis Kali, a male Knight from Ithor, investigated Senator Sone. The information on her was not as clear. She came from a family of shady dealers on a planet of shady dealings. Some points came up to raise suspicions though, the numbered account payments, and the presence of a large Black Sun ‘office’ in one of the Capital cities. These things, while not concrete proof, added up to trouble.Junis took his information and left for the rendezvous.
Once there the three Jedi met in a small village, very quiet, but with a feeling of negativity surrounding it. Lorus sent transmission to the other Council members about their findings and what they felt it all meant. The council was not pleased, but not surprised. Now the Jedi had become involved in politics, a place they never wanted to be. But the protection of the galaxy was foremost of the duties of the Council, and the corruption of the Republic would fall into that category.
Lorus, Kali, and Dun decided to return to Coruscant and made their way from the meeting place. Before they arrived at their ships to depart, they were ambushed and killed. The Jedi fought valiantly, but the unexpected nature of the attack and the sheer ferocity of the attackers proved too much, even for the Master and two Knights. They were dead, and had no way to warn the Council of what they'd discovered in their final moments.
Days later additional Jedi arrived to investigate the disappearance of their compatriots. They learned only what had happened, but the people of the village refused to talk of how. The Jedi left with no concrete answers, but they believed it to be the doings of Black Sun.
