Appearance
Evangeline stands 5'-5" Tall, weighs 130 pounds and has bright green eyes. She keeps her curly, dark brown hair long and usually wears it down, or in other simplistic styles like a braid or a bun. Her lithe, thin frame is kept in the best shape through her healthy eating habits and strict work out ethic. Enjoying the looks her husband sends her way when she dresses up, she's kept staying in shape one of her top priorities. Being a Jedi has given her all the discipline to avoid harmful vices in life.
As a child, she rarely enjoyed wearing dresses or painting her face with makeup like the other girls around her. She was content to run around in more masculine garb. Her brother was constantly teasing her about her lacking desire to be feminine and joked he didn't have a sister, but a very skinny brother. If it were her choice, she would rather run around in sleeveless tops, functional trousers, and bare feet. She dislikes the hindrance of baggy clothing and usually forgoes the standard Jedi robes for something a lot simpler. She had always held an affinity with nature and the feeling of air on her arms fills her with peace.
Personality
Sweet, shy, introverted. All these words could describe Evangeline, but they wouldn’t be enough. She’s also very loving, particularly towards her family. She would give her very life to save her parents or brothers and more importantly her husband Tais. Determination is another word that describes her actions. When she wants something done, or needs to see a goal achieved, she gives it every bit of energy she has to see it accomplished.
Once someone breaks through her outer shell she is found to be very personable and friendly. Upon first meeting her husband when she and her family moved to Kuat, she was very stand-offish towards him, but in due time she came to trust him and their friendship and ultimately their relationship evolved.
Evie, as she is often called by those close to her save her husband who calls her Eves, was always very nurturing growing up. She was known to, on more than one occasion, keep small animals from nearby woodlands hidden in her sleeping quarters. It was this love of taking care of things that made her an ideal candidate to have a family. That is one of her primary goals in life at present, children with her husband and a family all their own. Their continued frustration in this endeavor is a source of sorrow for the couple to date.
In battle Evie can be a fierce competitor, not at all timid like her appearance can sometimes lead one to think. Her Jedi skills and training were done over separate periods of time and she may not be as accomplished in all aspects as some of her fellow Jedi, but her natural ability, derived from her father, have done well enough to help her not only survive, but also thrive.
History
Evangeline was the second of two children, and the only daughter, born to Zaira and Garett Drykin. She was born into a prestigious Alderaanian family, her grandfather a respected senator and her mother a beloved pediatrician, so she lacked for nothing. However her father's childhood had not been as privileged and he didn't want his children growing up spoiled and unappreciative.
Evangeline's parents groomed her to be humble, compassionate, and strong willed. They also made it no secret to her that she was Force Sensitive like her father. It was to Garrett's dismay that his daughter showed all of the usual signs of a force sensitive child. He had been ideally hoping to leave his Jedi days behind him and raise a family normally.
When she was eight years old, Evangeline and Garrett were summoned to Coruscant by the Jedi Council. Both Zaira and Garrett knew that there was a possibility their daughter would not be coming home again if the Council found her to be strong enough in the Force.
Garrett had strong reservations against Evangeline training. A past brush with the darkside and Dark Jedi had caused him to leave the Jedi path behind. He worried that Evangeline would be susceptible to the same weakness to which he had succumbed, and maybe not as able to deny it.
Garrett traveled with his young daughter to the city covered world of Coruscant for her orientation with the Council. The trip was a tense one for him; he had not left many good feelings behind. For Evangeline, though, it was exciting. She'd never been to the planet before and every sight and sound was a brand-new sensation. The crowds did cause her to be very nervous, however. She knew why she was there and began to imagine herself as a Jedi Knight. Even for a shy child, the prospects galactic travel and using the Force were too strong to deny.
When the council deemed Evangeline fit for training, Garrett gave her the choice of staying, or returning home with him to Alderaan. As he feared, her reply was to stay.
At first, it was strange for Evangeline to be away from home. Her reclusive ways carried on for her first month before she began to open up and feel comfortable. Soon she was excelling her lessons and becoming friends with her fellow younglings.
Evangeline’s studies progressed naturally and quickly. She was a very promising young student who had no trouble keeping up with classmates. After the youngling classes drew to a close, Evangeline was selected by a master for further training. Master Jolop Nilkar, a Miraluka who saw only through the force, took a close personal liking to Evangeline. She felt the young girl had a close ‘one-ness’ with the Force that many Jedi weren’t capable of possessing. It made their relationship a very productive one as Master Nilkar wanted only the best for the girl as she grew.
At the age of ten Master Nilkar took Evangeline on a field trip to Commenor, a planet not very far from Coruscant. While there, a group of Dark Jedi, led by Udo Vonus [Photo] who worshiped a twisted and odd religion managed to abduct Evangeline while nearly killing her Master. The group had long held the belief that a female Jedi, who matched quite closely the description of Evangeline, would arise and resurrect the ancient Sith ideologies of the past. They had plotted and planned her abduction for well over two years, once they discovered her existence.
They held her captive for almost two years, trying to break the young girl of her Jedi teachings, trying to turn her to the Dark Side. Her parents meanwhile searched long and hard for her on Commenor, and any other planet they got a lead on. Garret, being an ex-Jedi himself danced dangerously close to crossing back to the Dark Side in his quest to rescue his daughter. After almost two years of searching, Garret feared the worst, not only concerning the fate of his daughter, but also about his ability to stave off the Dark Side. With that fear, he sent his wife and his two young sons to Kuat. He had friends there, the Voru’s whom would help the Drykin family settle in to life on a new planet without their father and sister.
Garret meanwhile, took every chance to find his daughter. He let the lines between dark and light blur. To him the only thing that mattered was the recovery of his daughter. He manipulated minds to get information he needed. He twisted arms both figuratively and literally. No longer was he a man of peace and passiveness. Now he was a man of action.
The action paid off.
Garret found his daughter just over two full years after her abduction. He slaughtered several of the Dark Jedi clan in the process, but found his daughter safe, for the most part. His fear that she would turn to the dark side led him to discontinue her Jedi training. Master Nilkar was crushed but not without understanding of the situation. She made a promise to Evangeline that if the now almost teen wanted to return, Nilkar would be there for her.
Evangeline now moved with her father and the rest of the family to Kuat. Her fear of others and shyness had resurfaced after the ordeal, maybe worse than it was before she’d gone to train originally. At first on Kuat she would associate with no one aside from her family members, but with many trips to the nearby Voru Manor, she became friendly with the Voru’s son, Tais. She’d remembered having a few classes with a girl named Aeria Voru, whom she learned was Tais’ twin. This put her even more at ease.
The friendship blossomed and again slowly pulled her from her shell. As the pair grew into their mid-teens, a romance would also blossom just as the friendship had. She knew she’d fallen in love with him by the time she was 15. During a rain storm on Kuat when the pair had been on a picnic they sought shelter in a cave. There, amidst the glow of a fire and their bodies soaking wet from the rain, they lost their virginity to one another.
Many time during their youth Evangeline accompanied her boyfriend Tais and his family to Coruscant to visit Aeria. They shared their first kiss there even. On one such trip the Dark Jedi cult who had abducted her before tried yet again, but they were foiled by Aeria and the other Jedi. This act so scared and angered Tais that the normally peace loving man purchased a blaster. This act made up Evangeline’s mind to complete her training. She didn’t want Tais to fear for her safety for the rest of their life. She wasn’t a seer, but she knew already she was going to spend the rest of her life with Tais, and she wanted it to be safe and not in fear. While on Coruscant she found her old master and asked to resume training. Nilkar agreed and Evangeline stayed with her when the Voru’s returned to Kuat.
Tais was none to happy with the choice, but he understood it and supported her. He himself used the time she was away to attend University on Kuat where he excelled in design. Upon his graduation he went to work for KDY, just like his father, though he was a designer. Evangeline, completing her training at roughly the same time as Tais finished his schooling returned to Kuat and in short order married Tais. She was 23, he was 25.
Belongings
Even though The Scion is a bit battered, it is Evangeline's pride and joy. It had once belonged to her father and he made it his gift to his daughter on her 16th birthday. She immediately began to fix it up and tinker with it. Evangeline was reluctant to make many modifications because Garrett had done so well keeping it in top condition, but in time she had consented to allow Tais to make a few changes that improved the speed and safety of the vessel. She continuously monitors and services the hyperdrive and engine to keep her running at top speed. Ever diligent, she makes sure to keep spare rations, clothing, and replacement parts on board at all times in case of emergencies.
Though the ship was designed as a freighter type, Evangeline and Tais converted the cargo bay into living quarters for the times they would be in the ship for extended periods. They installed a bed and an updated refresher, as well as a small galley. Evangeline loved the ship dearly.
Upon her marriage to Tais, his parents gave the happy couple the family home, Voru Manor. It was a classic villa style home that was well over 100 years old. It was built at the edge of the great Kuati forest with a large clearing in front of it. The home itself was a five bedroom home that she redecorated as soon as they moved in. Tais' parents had actually moved out of the home almost 6 years earlier because the home was simply too large for them. In all honesty it was probably too large for Evangeline and Tais too, but they loved to remodel it, and hoped to one day fill it with children of their own.
Adjacent to the home was a large docking bay that housed the Voru ships like the Scion and Tais' Idiot's Array. Tais could often be found here tinkering with one of the ships, or working on a new design for KDY. Evie had begun to spend more time there herself, taking an interest in her husband's work as well as wanting to be capable of fixing a ship if the situation arose.
