Evolution
From An Evolution in RP :: Database
Mission Statement
History
Star Wars Evolution is the result of a collaborative effort between the four original founders, Tais Voru, Aeria Voru, Evangeline Voru, and Joel Heredin.
It's original concept was first set into motion in May of 2005 when plot writers Tais and Joel met at a board they both role-played at. They started a small planning and discussion board located on the EZ board network. That original planning board can be seen here: First SWE Planning Board.
Both Tais and Joel originally RP'd together as members of the Empire at the Role Playing community 'Legends of Destiny'. Not satisfied with the general standard apparent in this medium of RP'ing with the Star Wars genre the two began to discuss their own alternative story. Originally it was intended to be simple star wars without the skywalker bloodline yet over time it became evident that Evolution, at that moment in time with a name still proggressively changing that it had a mind of its own.
Both writers wanted to produce for slightly different reasons. Joel after having RP'd a number of roles over time initially with the founder of 'Lod' generally wanted to see Evolution free of force users instead focusing more on characters like Han, Boba and Jabba. From this point of view Joel wanted to overall push for a more simulated story-telling experiance rather than a RPG which focused on a introspective writing of one's 'Mary Sues'. This is what united him with Tais who shared a similiar view but was driven by a passion to see the writers take on the star wars galaxy made realised in an RP which catered for dedicated and more mature fans of the genre.
Alot of the original characters in the history were modelled on old characters both Tais and Joel had at some point drawn up but perhaps never used in their experiance with different RP's. While it was evident Tais had the means for this to be realised it fell to Joel to flesh this out with a storyline which matched what the two wanted to see emerge over time. The two talked at length over what shape Evolution would take and it became apparent how even in its founding Evolution was never meant to be one persons board. It was evident without the other, that the workload and the means would have been skewed and perhaps too much for one to complete. The final product being the result of a number of concepts drawn up and developed on over a period of a few months between the two founders.
