Other Character Details:

Personality:

Thorn demands perfection at almost all times from his men and from himself. He accepts nothing less than 100% effort on missions. To call him a xenophobe would be an understatement, he despises all non-human species and views them as fit for nothing more then slave labor. Women in his eyes are only a notch above aliens. They are suitable for breeding and serving their husbands, but certainly not the military.

To the more positive, Thorn is a dedicated man. Dedicated to the Empire controlling the galaxy and ridding it of the scum and villainy that has overcome the once [long long ago] good Republic. Josdon's ascension to the throne was like a breath of fresh air for the long time military man, one that has rejuvenated his desire to be a leader for the ground troops of the Empire.

Belongings:

Hallas has a residence on Coruscant befitting a High Colonel, formerly of the Republic, but now of the Empire.

History:

Hallas was born on Algara II 48 years before the Purge. His father was a General in the Republic Military for as long as Hallas could recall and treated his only son as though he were a recruit rather than a child. Early to bed, early to rise, only high marks were accepted in his school work, and play time was virtually non-existent. The boy was raised to be a soldier, plain and simple.

His adolescence was spent focused on his education, and preparing for military entrance. The one luxury he was allowed was sports, but even that was marred by his fathers overbearing nature. A loss was unacceptable, no matter what the circumstances, no matter what his team mates did, a loss was hung squarely on his shoulders; at least in his fathers eyes.

When Hallas was 8 his mother gave birth to a sister. Unlike Hallas' childhood, the sister was adored by their father. The father said women were weak, and needed to be taken care of rather than driven to greater heights. This perception of women forever tainted the way Hallas would interact with women, and in fact treat them. His father said they needed taken care of, Hallas took that to mean they were incapable of doing things on their own, outside standard home maker activities and raising children.

Hallas never had a close relationship with his mother or sister, because he was intent on pleasing his father and living up to the standards the elder Thorn had set for him. The discounting of women continued into his entrance into the military academy at the age of 18. Women were nothing more than a vehicle for pleasure or service in his mind.

In the academy he excelled and was a cadet squad leader within his second year. It was there he would also suffer his greatest indignity, while at the academy he found himself viewing his fellow female cadets as stronger than he\'d given them credit for. He found himself dating with some regularity, when there was time. This was naturally frowned upon amongst the cadets, but for once iin his life he was not living for his father, but rather for himself. One in particular caught his attention, Dressan Bilmuk, and attractive young cadet. They for a time became inseparable, carrying on a relationship for almost a full year at the academy.

Dressan, Hallas found, was as intelligent as many of her male counterparts and had the head for both numbers and stategy. even though Hallas respected her, he still felt the military was no place for her to be. Knowing that convincing her of this would be useless, he instead looked for another way to get her out.

Towards the end of the year, she discovered she was pregnant and turned to Hallas in accusation. He denied the claim, even though he knew the child was his. After enduring an investigation into the matter, Dressan was expelled from the Academy and Hallas given a years probation. He had accomplished his goal though. She was out.

He was still determined to have her in his life and told his father what had transpired. Within the month, they were wed, both parents forcing their children to 'do the right thing'. When Dressan gave him a girl, though, Hallas was furious, hoping to have a son that would follow in the family 'career'.

The marriage went on for the sake of the child for almost 10 years before Dressan decided she would rather raise the child on her own than to be subject to Hallas' demands as a husband. During the ten year period Hallas did little to bond with the child, though being a child she adored her father and felt close to him regardless of his demeanor. He tried to turn her into a soldier in training, and the little girl did her best to appease her father. It wasn't until the divorce and moving to another planet that she was truly allowed to grow as a girl instead of a boy that wasn't.

Hallas' military career was in stark contrast to that of his home life. He served the Republic well, being commissioned as an officer and receiving steady promotion over the years.

Upon the decimation of the Republic's Senate and the rise of the stronger Empire, Hallas elected to remain with the strong standing government. His faith was rewarded as he was promoted to High Colonel and assigned to be the ground garrison assigned to the first fleet. This meant he and his unit would get to traverse the galaxy and not be simply stuck as a standing defense unit on some backwater planet.

Hallas was very pleased by this, and sought to ensure the long term success of the Empire.
