Raised by her smuggler father, ex-Republic mechanic Hera Gracchus is travelling closely to his footsteps as she leaves affiliating herself with the current galactic government behind and chooses instead to roam freely around the galaxy.

Personality
When one meets Hera it does not take long to figure out her general personality, that she is bright, bubbly and vibrant. With such a personality she comes across as being happy all the time and kind to all. There is no doubting that when it comes down to it she values everyone around her, whether or not she knows them, and is a kind soul in a troubled galaxy. Known to be very optimistic she likes being that way tending to take a hopeful and positive view of future outcomes. She shares her opinions whenever she feels she has another view to be added.
In difficult situations, Hera will try and be the positive one, even when all looks down. She will has a tendency to make missions, no matter how dangerous or illegal, sound adorable and fuzzy. The one thing she loves more then anything is the engine of a ship, she has always found herself with the ability to look after ships, expressing a gift of knowing when a ship is ‘hurting’ and will often find the problem and correct it with some craftiness. There is no place more home to her then with the engine of a ship, no matter what class type vessel.
Still when it comes to blasters and other things, Hera is fairly useless. Although she does have the know how to use a blaster, she cherishes life too much and would never use a weapon to harm another, rather preferring to hide and hope for the best. Fearful of those who use weapons so easily, her confidence is not high when in a fire fight. She also doesn’t like to see others around her get hurt, particularly those she knows, but even when she sees those who might attack her get harmed, she feels a certain degree of guilt.
History
Hera has no real memory of where her home is, to her as a child it was always the ship her father worked on. However she is listed to have been born on Kiffu, though she has since never visited the planet. Her mother was half Kiffar, but with little contact with her as an infant, and absolutely no contact from the age of 5 years, Hera hasn’t really payed much mind to that side of her heritage. Instead she was raised solely by her father, Trivss Gracchus. On his side was more of a Coruscant and Corellian heritage, the latter seemed the most evident. Ever since Hera could remember she was on board the smuggling ship Horizon’s Deviation and grew up there with her dad, the mechanic, and the rest of the crew.
She often fell asleep as a child listening to the sound of the ship’s engine as her father worked away on it. He would teach her many skills as a child, of various different things regarding the engine and how it operated. These skills would be later incorporated into her being a mechanic, just like her father. Perhaps if she truly thought about it, Horizon’s Deviation wasn’t really her home, it was the engine room of that particular ship that was home. Being raised completely by a male did give her a brush with the fact that she ended up nearly completely boyish, regarded as a tomboy in most regards. Still with contact with other females in the crew of the ship, she was still given the attention of a woman’s teachings to help her develop into a young lady.
When she was 17 years of age her father and the rest of the crew were going through a difficult time, they’d been marked with a bounty on their heads due to a smuggling operation gone wrong. It was this sort of thing that led Trivss to decide the ship was not the best place for his young daughter. Wanting her to amount to something more then he ever could, he expressed his desires for her to join the Republic, become a mechanic under Republic’s Navy and make a good and honest life for herself. Not wanting to disappoint her father, and more then ever wanting to learn and be a part of something, she agreed and soon had enrolled in the Republic’s Navy.
Hera dedicated herself to being a part of the Navy, and although she was clearly of low standards in the field of combat, she definitely had some of the highest standards when it came to being a mechanic. To her it was like the engines spoke to her, told her what was wrong, and she fixed it, a rare gift to many. Years of training and effort went into these particular fields, with a variety of other fields being taught to her, though only basically for emergency situations.
At the age of 19 years she was a part of a crew on board a large capital ship, and was ranking at being the third mechanic for that ship. It was then that she was informed of her father’s death, killed in a run in with some pirates, the ship and all crew were destroyed. This was a devastating blow to the now young adult, but she only saw it has more inspiration to do what was right and continue with her studies. She was determined to make her father proud of her. By the age of 23 years she was the second mechanic on board of a capital ship.
However her world was to come crashing down around her when the Empire was born. She had a disagreement with the way things were run, and the general structure of the Empire. While at first she attempted to make the transition from Republic to Empire, she failed to be able to do so, and ended up leaving the Empire. Instead she abandoned everything she had worked so hard for and ended up on a similar path to that of her father, seeking a job with anyone really, and smugglers were definitely one of the sorts of people she was interested in.
