Personality
Due to his upbringing in a smuggling family, Jares is overly sarcastic and rarely keeps his mouth shut when it comes to dire moments. He enjoys making people laugh but most of the time they end up angry at him because he tells it like it is. In many cases he ends up making more enemies than friends with this attitude, but he doesn't care. Just as long as no one not involved gets hurt.
It's not easy to win over his trust, unless your a women. Jares has a chivalrous attitude when it comes to women and children, unfortunately it's one of his biggest weaknesses. A few times he's ended up credit-less and one time clothe-less and he kicks himself every time it happens. It's his second nature to be a gentlemen to a women.
For a long time now he has wanted to have children, but his love for traveling through space, smuggling and repairing ships have made it difficult. Plus with the added Imperial take over, a family shouldn't be raised now. He hopes one day to fond someone special to share his dream with, even if it means raising a family on his ship.

History
Jares was born 37 years BtP into a smuggling family. His Father, Mal Karre, was captain of the Jade Eclipse, an old YT-1200 freighter. His mother, Cerah Karre, was the co-pilot of his fathers ship. When his mother discovered her pregnancy, she urged his father to get a place back on Corellia, and o the did. After he was born he was raised on stories of his mother and father running from the law and fighting bounty hunters.
When Jares was thirteen years old is father left in a hurry one day, leaving his DC-17 Hand Blasters behind. Later later that day his father's ship was shot down. Everything went down hill from there, his mother died from an overdose of spice after his fathers death, Jares was left alone to fend for himself, and the bounty hunters sent after his father were actually sent for the entire family.
Jares took his father's blasters and ran. He managed to run into an older man, Garret Praken, who helped him with his problems. Garret took Jares under his wing as a ship mechanic, he taught him everything he could while hiding him from any bounty hunters nearby.
After five years of being with Garret, Jares was given a ship to fix and repair for his own. Garret had found the battered but repairable wreckage of a YT-2400 Freighter. Garret had known Jares's father and knew that his ship had been a YT series model. Jares named it then and there, the Jade Eclipse II. Once the ship was back in working order Jares went out to give her a test drive around the planet, unfortunately when he got back Jares found Garret dead with a small group of bounty hunters.
In a fit of rage Jares shot and killed them, he took his ship and what supplies he could gather from their ships and left the planet. After that he followed in his parents foot steps becoming a smuggler and running from his enemies. For seventeen years Jares smuggled and pirated through the galaxy, earning a small reputation, but nothing to bring to anyones attention.
His ship went through many modifications as he went along. He equipped it with a class 0.8 hyperdrive he acquired after transporting spice along with three stolen military grade ion engines. Two double laser cannon were mounted on the top and bottom of the ship which could be controlled either by a person or by autotracking fire controllers and a droid brain Jares modified personally. Also various smuggle compartments were hidden around the ship along with a weapons stash just in case. In the modifying of his ship, Jares unfortunately lost a good amount of cargo space, limiting his smuggling runs to medium to small cargo. His shields, if under enough fire, can also give in and end up requiring repair immediately.
Finally a day came that changed Jares's life. He was out transporting a large cargo with a few of his old buddies when Black Sun wiped out his friends and damaged his ship badly. Jares managed to take out a few fighters before he had to jump into hyperspace. He made it mostly intact at Coruscant where he spent a year repairing the damages they left for him.
During that years Jares had acquired an R2 Astromech droid that he named Ace. After working with the droid for so long he developed a relationship that would last for what Jares thought would be a long time. After his ship was repaired a Pair of Jedi offered him a large amount of credits to transport them someplace. During a fire fight between the Eclipse and a squadron of TIE-Fighters one of the Jedi offered a job in the freshly formed Rebellion, after scratching his new paint, Jares accepted.
After meeting a young women by the name of Kiprani Rune, the two helped each other out along the way forming a friendship. After being captured, again, on Molavar, the two tried to make an escape. Jares lost her along they and managed to grab a swoop bike along the way.
As the Imperials were surrounding the remaining rebels, Jares took the swoop bike and rescued Jeka, but no one else. While they were escaping, Jares was hit by a blaster set for stun. Taking refuge in the shadows of city, Jeka was able to find passage for the two on a trade ship headed for Kashyyk. She spent the next few months in the coastal city of Kachirho, taking care of him as he healed from the wound and regained his strength.
