Kalista Xenyn is a freelance bounty hunter from Corellia. Although stating her independence from political factions and trying to maintain an unbiased approach in her career, Kalista and her father were targeted early by the Empire for being well-known criminals in the Galactic Core. She, with the aid of other monetary opportunists, helped release her father from Imperial custody, but unfortunately, these actions bought Kalista a place in the Imperial Most Wanted.

Escaping to Nar Shaddaa with her father, Siren Blaze, and HK-75, Kalista had hoped to find a bit of solace from her current situation, but was met instead with more gunfire, this time from other outlaws. She and her father managed to flee from the danger with the help of Stefan Faerber, but in the process, Kalista lost contact with Siren and HK.

The present whereabouts of the Xenyn family are currently unknown.

Youngest daughter to Deyvis Xenyn and Leymia Suyer-Xenyn, Kalista was born into a family with old money and even older conflicts. In an instance of serendipity, Deyvis and Leymia met on Naboo, falling in love fast and hard despite their conflicting lifestyles. Leymia, raised by a conservative family, was attending one of the prestigious universities outside of Keren when she met Deyvis, who was running a small smuggling operation in the mercantile town; their attraction was immediate and
quickly developed into a devoted relationship. Although Leymia’s parents disapproved of her decision, they tolerated it until the young couple eloped. Shortly after their private wedding, Leymia gave birth to their first daughter, Alyxandra.

Declaring their granddaughter an abomination and essentially disowning Leymia for her dishonorable behavior, the Suyers gave Leymia and Deyvis a hefty sum of money as a bribe to leave Naboo and never return. They took the credits and moved to Deyvis’ home planet if Corellia, where he set up a small but profitable smuggling corporation on the outskirts of Coronet City. For two years, they lived happily and comfortably, and as their only daughter grew healthy and strong, Leymia and Deyvis decided to have another child; nine months later, Kalista was born.

Sadly, Leymia had complications from her previous pregnancy which had gone unnoticed by doctors, and a few hours after giving birth to her second daughter, Leymia passed away. Devastated by the loss of his wife, Deyvis struggled to press on with his life, knowing that he was not the only one affected by this tragedy and he would have to provide for his two children; Deyvis was determined to give them a life with more opportunities than he had. Although he loved both of his daughters equally, Deyvis grew very attached to his youngest, and as she grew older, Kalista would often follow her father around, fascinated by his work. It worried Xenyn that his daughter had grown so interested in his sometimes dangerous career, prompting him to make the extra efforts to keep his family separate from his business.

Enrolled in a local academy, Kalista and Alyxandra had an opportunity to get a decent education and create a foundation for a respectable career later in life. Both girls did well in their schooling, but Kalista simply found
school boring, hating the long periods of sitting and listening to the over-politicized history of the Republic and other such nonsense; she preferred being active, playing and exploring outside, sometimes getting into fights. Kalista also liked helping her father with his work, usually only doing simple inventory checks on the rare occasion Deyvis would allow his youngest daughter to assist him.

Time went on, their lives becoming fairly routine, but as Kalista grew older, she would often hear her father criticize government and the seemingly corrupt politicians which naturally influenced her perception of the galaxy. While Kalista found politics and government interesting, her sister was fervently involved in the galactic happenings, taking part in various protests and developing relationships with radical activists. Alyxandra’s fearlessness when it came to such controversial matters disturbed Deyvis at times, but when his oldest daughter turned eighteen, she moved from his residence, lessening his control on her life. With all his parental attention turned to the teenaged Kalista, his overprotective nature flourished, often driving her to threaten to leave.

And when she was nineteen, she did leave Coronet City,
living briefly on Vreni Island while she worked as a tour guide. The job paid well enough and for a while, the mild treks through the island’s lush jungles were exciting, but after about two years, Kalista was bored once again with her place in life. She returned to Coronet City, and after a lot of persuasion, convinced her father to allow her to assist with his smuggling business. Most of her tasks were fairly menial, like helping load and unload the cargo or filing reports, but on a few occasions, she actually helped transport the goods. A few of Deyvis’ men liked having Kalista around for the delivery of shipments since she generally received less hassle from port securities for the simple reason that she was a woman; Kalista, however, hated relying on her femininity to get the job done.

About a year later, the Xenyn family got a report that Alyxandra had been killed in a raid when she and the radical political group she had aligned herself with were caught with explosives and plans to destroy government buildings. The loss of his oldest daughter prompted Deyvis to be even more apprehensive about allowing Kalista to be a part of his smuggling business, but he had eventually come to terms with the fact that she would do it whether he permitted her to or not. He began teaching Kalista how to fly, and had one his men teach Kalista how to use various weapons; she became particularly skilled with and fond of blaster rifles.

An old smuggling friend, Sutern Terwal, came to Deyvis about a year before The Great Purge, learning that a crime lord on Nar Shaddaa had placed a bounty on his head after he lost pertinent cargo. Sutern begged Deyvis for assistance, hoping that his former comrade would be able to provide him with information for another mercenary to destroy the criminal, and Kalista offered her assistance; Deyvis had continually denied her greater opportunities to flourish in his line of work, prompting his daughter to find a way out of his clutches. Naturally, the man said no, reminding Kalista that bounty hunting was in a whole other league to smuggling, but assured Sutern he would find someone suitable for the job.

Deyvis stayed true to his word, hiring a bounty hunter by the name of Corbin Loitez. When Kalista learned of the deal, she found Corbin and tried to persuade him to at the very least let her tag along with him. He originally refused, knowing that Deyvis would quite literally kill him if anything happened to his daughter, but Kalista persuaded him to agree, albeit reluctantly. The pair went to Nar Shaddaa to stake out the crime lord, during which Corbin gave Kalista a crash-course in bounty hunting. He explained to her the importance of knowing her surroundings, examining the resources her mark could have, and developing a plan but being prepared to have it shot to hell.

After a few days, they eliminated Sutern’s enemy and returned to Corellia. Corbin admitted that he was initially skeptical of her abilities to be a bounty hunter, but after seeing how adeptly she carried out the hit, he was impressed with her skills and professionalism. He also told Kalista that if she ever needed help with anything, be it a bounty or otherwise, he’d be more than happy to offer his services. Kalista thanked him, but came to the conclusion that having dealt with compromising for coworkers and taking orders from bosses was too draining, too restricting. She wanted to be her own boss.

As Kalista suspected, Deyvis was furious when he learned that she had gone behind his back and risked her life in the process, but after his anger was subsided, the two calmly discussed Kalista’s future. She explained to her father that a normal career, a normal life wasn’t something that she wanted, and he would have to come to terms with that or risk pushing Kalista away even further. Obviously hesitant to accept that reality, Deyvis tried arguing with his daughter that she could do so much more with her life, but Kalista simply wouldn’t have it. He eventually quit making futile attempts to persuade her to abandon her rebellious ways, but still tried from time to time.

After a job on Tatooine, Kalista decided to briefly return to Corellia to visit her father, even though she was slightly reluctant to see him given that he had become particularly persistent in telling her to settle down. Her initial worries, however, were eliminated when she was greeted by a pair of mercenaries who had come to collect the bounty on the Corellian woman. By sheer chance and a case of mistaken identity, Blake Isul had followed Kalista into the conflict; in spite of the dangers at hand, he nevertheless offered his assistance. Kalista accepted his help, and after some heated exchange between her and the mercenary, she learned that her father had been taken into Imperial custody on Coruscant.

Kalista and Blake were able to overpower and outwit the bounty hunters, although Kalista did not come out of the struggle unscathed: she received a minor shot to her shoulder. They made their way to one of the local medical centers where her wound would be probably treated, and Kalista was reunited with an old
acquaintance from her past, Raezia. Although Raezia helped the bounty hunter, she made it very clear that she really did not want to help a woman who was a known bounty hunter. Kalista nevertheless thanked her for her help, and shortly thereafter, she and Blake made their way to the center of the Empire. [Read the Story]

The welcoming party at Coruscant was slightly less hostile than at Corellia. However, although the pair was not greeted by trigger-happy mercenaries, they were met by an elusive robed figure with an androgynous voice. Robes, as Kalista so aptly named the character, explained that while the Empire would be interested in seeing the Xenyn family incarcerated, the government had turned its attention to another pair of Imperial traitors: Kristian Levin and Siren Blaze, a deserter and a bounty hunter, respectively. After showing that Deyvis was in Robes’ custody, the mysterious individual persuaded Kalista to capture the other two in exchange for the liberation of her father and the removal of their subsequent bounties. Kalista told Robes that she agreed, but truth be told, she was skeptical of the offer.

Blake and Kalista found Siren and Kristian at one of the local bars, their first encounter initially aggressive. After some arguing and minor threats, Kalista and Siren came to the conclusion that the Empire was certainly playing both of them so that Kalista would deliver all three traitors in a neatly wrapped package. The two women decided that they weren’t interested in playing the Empire’s little game and would rather deal some well-deserved damage to the Imperial penal system. Kristian, obviously uncertain of which path to take, resisted at first, but with a little coaxing from Siren, reluctantly agreed to offer his services in their endeavor. Unfortunately, before the foursome could continue their impromptu mission, they needed to remove the tracking device embedded in Kristian’s arm; Siren took care of the dirty work.

Shortly thereafter, the group returned to the hangar so Kristian’s injury could be attended to and so they could gather some supplies to break into the prison. However, upon their return, they were greeted not only by a squad of stormtroopers, but also by another bounty hunter, Danas Kamrin. Although his actions were motivated by his own goals, he inadvertently
helped eliminate the threat immediately posed to the assembly of Imperial traitors and so there was a tentative amity between Danas and the others. Kalista decided that she didn’t want to drag Blake any further into her mess and so with some monetary appreciation, she said good-bye to her original ally. She knew, however, that Kristian was not going to be the most trustworthy companion given their perpetual bickering, and she and Siren would not pack enough punch to deliver a sold blow to the Empire; Kalista made the snap decision to hire Danas as a sort of bodyguard when they broke into the prison.

Uncertain of the best method to penetrate the prison and rescue Kalista’s father, the group spent a great deal of time weighing the pros and cons of various plans until Danas, Siren, and Kalista decided they would just arm themselves to the teeth and roll with the punches, leaving Kristian to pilot them away from Coruscant. With some strategically placed explosions, the trio of mercenaries was able to break into the prison with minor initial resistance, only having to kill some low-ranking Imperials in a storage room. After carefully vacating the room, they encounter two guards with an HK series droid, obviously a prisoner. Kalista and her companions terminated the guards, but they were left in uncertainly about how to handle their new acquaintance, who was offering to assist them if they removed the restraining bolt. The Corellian woman obliged, and after another wave of Imperials, the droid introduced itself as HK-75.

HK, as Kalista dubbed the droid, proved to be not only a useful ally, but an entertaining one as well: with his calling humans “meatbags” and jubilant execution of Imperials, the Corellian bounty hunter couldn’t help but smile at his antics. He led the group of bounty hunters through the penitentiary, helping them locate a control room which in turn helped them locate the cell of Kalista’s father. During this hunt, Kalista also learned that the price the Empire deemed her worthy of had increased since she left Corellia; naturally, this left her with concerns regarding the payment she promised Danas.

The reunion with her father was emotional, but it gave Kalista at least a little hope that they would succeed and survive their escape from Coruscant. Unfortunately, they encountered the robed figure from before, who informed the criminal collective that their success was not theirs alone: Robes McGee had actually kept tabs on Kalista when she made the deal with Kristian and Siren. The exchange of bitter words quickly escalated into an exchange of blaster bolts which was only alleviated by HK activating a security field, giving them a few minutes to decide on an escape route. Siren was able to access a control panel and locate a garbage chute that could lead them out of the prison.

Although no one was particularly enthusiastic about the arrangement, Deyvis, already aggravated by the events of the past two days, was anything but hesitant in expressing his disapproval. He and his daughter began bickering about her lack of planning, but before the argument could continue, the compacting machinery of the garbage room was activated; consequently, the crew of outlaws had to make a quick dash to get out of that space. They located a hatch which led into a tunnel, and fortunately, that tunnel led them outside of the prison. Once again led by HK, they made way to the impound yard not far from the penitentiary. The battle for their freedom was sprinkled with resistance from the hangar guards and tractor-beam emitters, and Danas Kamrin was lost in the midst of the blaster fight. Deyvis, Siren, HK, and Kalista, however, persisted and escaped Coruscant, agreeing to meet on Nar Shaddaa. [Read the Story]

Kalista is very a calm individual, not easily excited or angered by the average activities of her day-to-day life. Although her choice to be a bounty hunter is not widely accepted by the galaxy (or even her family), the young woman takes her career very seriously, and she expects those working with and around her to likewise act in a highly professional manner; Kalista can be rather intolerant of those who display rather amateurish qualities in the work force, such qualities including but not limited to dishonesty, disrespect, and lack of punctuality. For most of her career, she had little qualms about whom she worked with, but after finding herself and her father on the Empire’s most wanted list, Kalista has become decidedly anti-Empire.

Off-duty, Kalista tends to be a little more laid back. She is rather fond of having a few drinks in a small cantina to unwind after a hard day’s work, but Kalista is still an overall responsible individual when it comes to her entertainment choices, not liking to lose her control completely. The young woman also has an interest in the politics of the galaxy, partially because of her profession, but also simply out of sheer curiosity. Kalista likes being active and constantly on the move, and she finds that energy is best put into activities that will be helpful in her physically demanding career; such activities usually include working on her hand-to-hand combat skills and her marksmanship.

Her personal life isn’t as clear cut and smooth as her professional one; Kalista claims that she isn’t interested in making friends or having intimate relations of any sort, but she does occasionally crave social contact that she can’t get through her career. She grew up as a daddy’s girl, and because of her somewhat masculine nature, Kalista doesn’t get along with many women outside the professional setting. Kalista also has very high standards for any man that would presume to enter her personal life, and she sometimes lets that get in the way of what could be a fruitful relationship.

She can be very stubborn and sometimes a little irrational, and she has a perpetual fear of being looked upon as weak or incompetent, possibly because of the high standards she sets for everyone else. As common with most Corellians, Kalista loves her family very much, especially her father, but she sometimes feels like he still has control over her life. Although Kalista rarely mentions it, she misses her sister very much, and there is a part of her who would love to seek vengeance on whoever killed Alyxandra.

kaliID2.jpg
A few inches taller than the average female human, Kalista stands at a striking five feet, nine inches. Because her choice of profession is often physically demanding, the Corellian woman makes the extra effort to ensure her body is in peak condition, resulting in a very strong, athletic figure. However, her womanly curves are not sacrificed in her goal for a well-toned body; in fact, her figure is quite voluptuous. Kalista often frowns on other women using their bodies and so-called feminine wiles as a weapon, and consequently, she does not make it a point to reveal her body. Instead, she prefers clothing that is conservative and practical, often donning black pants, a neutral colored top, and a pair of durable combat boots. In cooler temperatures, Kalista sports a simple fighter-pilot jacket.

Her facial features are often considered attractive by most human standards. Kalista has a classically pretty bone-structure, with high, defined cheekbones and a well-proportioned and straight nose, but her plump lips and uniquely shaped eyes give her a slightly more exotic appearance. Her eyes are a light jade, which look all the more stunning in contrast to her dark brunette tresses. Her chesnut-colored hair extend a little below her chest (with the exception of the bangs she usually tucks behind her ears), and for practicality purposes, Kalista often pulls her hair into a tight braid, only sometimes leaving it down.

In spite of her father’s disapproval, Kalista does have two tattoos which are subtle in design, but nevertheless stand in stark contrast to her smooth golden skin. While they are not necessarily symbolic of anything by design, the young woman decided to get each during a pivotal change in her career. Only an inch or so below her left elbow, Kalista has a thin black armband crafted into an intricate woven design; she decided to get this after her first successful smuggling run. On the back of her neck, a little lower than her hairline, Kalista has a black serpent, which she had slapped on after her first successful bounty. She does have a few scars from minor childhood accidents and job-related hazards, but none of them are particularly distinguishing.

As a means of carrying her dual blasters, Kalista utilizes two holsters which connect with her belt and strap around her thighs, and for the compact blaster, she wears a holster which is easily concealed under her jacket. Kalista also has sheaths in her boots for the knives she always carries. If necessary, she will use a black backpack to carry other supplies for a job.
