Leena was born 'Leeena Horrik'.
Leena Horik's story does not begin with her. Instead we will begin with her father, a once promising young man who fell victim to circumstance and estrangement. Growing up on Mirial to elderly, conservative parents, Barnas Horrik astounded many about him with his strange skills and abilities, even at an early age. Tabbed by the Jedi as a possible participant in their youngling order, an agent was dispatched there to negotiate his enrollment in their program. His age was perfect but Barnas' parent insisted that a Mirialan Jedi take him as their apprentice. Informing the parents that no Mirialan currently held the desired rank to take on Padawans, both refused to release their son to the Jedi.
Just over a year later, the aged parents began experiencing trouble policing the child, as they had grown too old to effectively do so. Contacting the Jedi, they relented and allowed Barnas to take part in the youngling program on the premise that he would be coupled with a Mirialan, once one became available, and that no one on Mirial should be privy to this exchange. Barnas left with some degree of sadness, but altogether found himself excited to experience new places. As with all secrets, the word that his parents had released him to become a Padawan of a non-Mirialan surfaced and they suffered severe stigma until their deaths only a few years later.
Barnas excelled in the Jedi program, he growing stout in mind and body under the auspices of the Jedi. He enjoyed the activity and diversity on Coruscant but found the crime repulsive. Growing under his Master's wing to revere law and order, Horik's father set his own goals of snuffing out crime and the disorderly. Aging into his late teen years, Barnas began rebelling from certain codes, a trifling time for both he and Master. Whilst an excellent conduit of the living Force, Barnas had happened across a like aged female Mirialan that fancied him. Engaging in a secret relationship with her for nearly one year, his conscious finally pushed the truth from his lips and he abandoned the Jedi Order for love. The adoration for his future spouse, as well as his own breaking of Jedi law, forcing himself to look inward, he knew the amputation between he and they was necessary, if only for his own peace of mind.
Months followed where he floundered in the civilian world, Barnas not really knowing how to behave minus his Padawan braid. Feeling it only proper to refuse his Force abilities since his exit from the still respected Order, young Horrik still desired to help in achieving peace through law in the galaxy. Traveling the route of law enforcement, Barnas enrolled in the Coruscant Police Academy much to the chagrin of his lover, Graeala. The Mirialan pair were married soon enough on Coruscant where they both felt content to settle. She became a homemaker, he an officer of the peace. Believing it outright wrong to gain advantage via his unpolished Force abilities, Barnas struggled to repress his Force sensitivity as a matter of principle. In his mind, since he had voluntarily severed his connection with the Jedi, it was then not his place to act as one. Thus attempting to settle arrests and the like without his abilities, his mind soon came to realize that he was righteous and that by restraining he was returning balance of fate between he and his possible perpetrators.
Both enjoyed their life on Coruscant although both still felt a tug of nostalgia for their home world. Advising Graeala of his parents' estrangement, due to his exit with a non-Mirialan Jedi, she then ceased her hints at returning there as a couple. Forever understanding, open minded and loving, Graeala sustained years of deteriorating lifestyle due to Barnas' life as an officer. Often growing depressed and moody from his experiences, the pair's life at home could only get better.
Leena grew up much like any Human girl her age.
And it would get better. Returning home one summer's eve, Graeala informed Barnas she was with child. Both joyous with the news, the decision then came where to raise the infant. Balancing lists of pros and cons, both decided that they would remain on Coruscant with the new arrival. Months later, Baby Horrik was born, she taking the name of Graeala's mother, Leeena. Whilst reading the traditional, 'Leeena Horrik' on her Coruscant birth records, Graeala convinced Barnas over the course of years to shorten it to 'Leena Horik' such that their child could more easily blend into the diverse tapestry of Coruscant. Leeena is aware of her name's true spelling but to this day, still uses the only version she has ever remembered using.
Young Horik thrived under her loving parent's embrace, she knowing little strife aside from an occasional, parental argument prompted by Barnas' stress filled occupation. Flourishing with many races under Coruscant skies, Leena grew to respect all and neither knew of or practiced the more strict Mirialan doctrines. Behaving as her peers, she progressed through adolescence much as any human would. Never once did she learn of her father's former station of Jedi and to this day, that nugget of history has not reached her ears. Believing him to have been an upstanding stalwart of peace and order, Horik learned early on the importance of law in maintaining balance. Playing with various police effects from an early and impressionable age, Leena grew to respect her father greatly in his righteous endeavors, she never knowing that he had only entered this life of law following the anguished breaking of the Jedi’s' own code of law.
Believing that the Force should not be used to sway advantage, and thus tilt the scales of balance, both Barnas and Graeala kept his dormant Force sensitivities to themselves. Finding the typical dose of troublemaking, Horik was, by in large, a well-behaved child who excelled in study and sport. Discipline at home carried over into a strict adherence to school necessities. However, as Leena progressed into a young adult, curiosity and typical teenage rebellion set in soon enough. Often sneaking off and shunting schoolwork, a divide emerged between she and her father over his conservative lifestyle. Never reaching a boiling point of conflict, the growing discontent with him and his strict disciplines instead percolated within and festered. She loved both her parents dearly but as she aged found herself more geared to her mother's worldview of 'making the best of things' instead of her father's, 'make the best of things by controlling them.'

One month graduated from schooling, Horik's world shattered. Following in her father's shadow, and recently enrolled in Coruscant's Police Academy, news reached her of a massive explosion in her sector's market district. Having not really paid any mind to politics or the growing discontent throughout the galaxy, the slippery and tangled intricacies of a skilled revolution was lost on her naive mind and interests. A day later, news reached her that both parents had perished in the explosion, the cause of the blast being a separatist fanatic preaching the gospel of deceit in the Senate. Crushed and furious, she set out to personally investigate the matter, with what facts her low station was privy to, and found nothing. Finding nothing that was not already explained, Leena felt as though she were a twig in a cyclone. Now with no parents to ground her, she buckled down and devoted herself wholeheartedly to achieving her goal and fighting that which her father had forewarned her of. In addition, with tears streaming down her cheeks, Leena finally, graciously and humbly, adorned herself with traditional Mirialan tattoos which she had rebelliously refused at her father's numerous and repeated pleas.
Whispers and rumors circulated amongst Coruscant, the seeming core of the galaxy, about underhanded machinations taking place between senators and notorious criminal agencies. Unwilling to believe such rubbish, she continued in her pursuits and over time proved an exceptional officer of the peace. Finding the job difficult, stressing and thankless, she soon enough turned to after-hour drinks with peers. The libations morphed into a daily routine for the Mirialan and she found the camaraderie a welcome reprieve from her career and losses. As time wore on, she cobbled together quite a reputation for her budding social tendencies but never once did she overstep the bounds such that it affected her job performance.
Much to her disappointment, Scout armor was not constructed for the female gender.
Much to her delight, Horik soon received a letter of admiration and invitation. It seemed the Coruscant Police Force had been assimilated by a galactic entity that would secure all systems with one set of laws and no nagging questions of jurisdiction. Given the choice to transfer to this galactic militia or step down from public service, Leena offered her goodbyes to friends and peers. Enrolling in the restructured armed forces, her former police rank cropped the sizable time normally afforded recruits. She did however weather the portions mandatory. During this time, she befriended two human females named Pietur Legatus and Naussica Sovik. The majority of her time with Pietur was spent corralling her active mind and focusing it toward passing marks. Legatus' infectious optimism in return proved welcome to Horik who had, by this time, began to slide into the typical cynicism of law officers. Sovak on the other hand proved equally beneficial. The two became constant sparring partners and Leena grew to respect her physical prowess greatly. Both women aided Horik during this time and the group still shares a sisterly bond despite their varied ranks and branches of service. In fact, a great deal of effort was daily spewed betwixt them all over which branch was superior. It proved a comedic therapy as well as stress relief.
Finishing training, Horik was granted the essentials for her duty, she now more than ever ready to help stamp out the growing pockets of terrorists and dissension throughout the galaxy. Exchanging farewells with Nausicaa and Pietur, she vowed to see them again, if not sooner, than later. Deployed with her new platoon aboard the Imperial Cruiser, Guile, Leena's first mission is to help bring order to the planet of Bellassa which has become tainted by those who would malform given rights into exploitation. The grand scheme of it all does not currently concern Horik but her mind has wondered exactly where this line of action will eventually lead. Nevertheless, she is as devoted as ever to the return of order and will sacrifice all to achieve it in the Imperial Army.
