Character Details
Personality
Maxwell is a real coward. An unreliable, professional liar that’s only loyal to one man: himself... the rest of the galaxy can drop dead as far as he’s concerned. His unreliable behaviour is well known when friends of him get into trouble. And his personal quote for those times is well known with people he used to call friends as wel... “A living friend is a lot better than a dead one.”
He can throw in a punch if he really has to... but he’d rather hit the weak, the old and the women... as far as he’s concerned, we’re all the same from the inside, so he doesn’t sees any difference between a man and a woman during a fight. But then again... if he ever gets in one... he’d rather grab for the bottle of juma than an opponents throat.
And of course; Maxwells very infamous behaviour towards aliens. His discriminating, racistic attitude angered more than one alien, but Maxwell doesn’t gives a damn. Humans are the superior species in his eyes, and aliens are just mutants and failed attempts to look human. And that’s exactly the way he treats aliens... like beasts. Maybe worse if they doesn’t have any resemblance to the Human species...
There are only a few things that really make him happy though. Juma juice and a lot of credits. But Max’s self centered, annoying behaviour will eventually anger the wrong person, leaving him with a blaster bolt right between the eyes...
History
The first years
Maxwell McMassey was born 33 years ago, 32 years before the Purge, as the son of businessman Miles McMassey and his wife Alyssa McMassey. They followed the old McMassey tradition, and gave Maxwell a first name with an ‘M’. They knew that tradition sucked, but they didn’t wanted a full scale family fight because they broke the tradition.
Maxwell grew up as a spoiled brat because of daddy’s money. If he snapped his fingers, daddy would buy it for him, just to keep him happy. To compensate for the time they couldn’t spend together. Thanks to that he started developing a selfish, self-centered personality. But Miles thought it was the only way to keep him happy, since a child needed time with his father. Time he couldn’t give him... and since he never gave him time, he didn’t noticed how his only child slowly developed into a selfish, self-centered boy. And by the time Alyssa, being spoiled and self-centered as well, would notice it, it would be far too late.
Primary School
Despite his spoiled, self-centered behaviour, Maxwell was quite popular on Primary School. Due to no small part of his silver tongue, of course, which he used to charm both teachers and students. There were always some people not falling for his silver tongue, especially among the teachers, and those people tended to have a strong dislike of the young Maxwell.
High School
High School went exactly the same way. Maxwell used his silver tongue to compensate for the loss of popularity his selfish behaviour caused. The only major difference was he now also tried to talk people out of their credits. Which worked with most of the students, but the teachers and other students that were smarter than that had a strong dislike towards Maxwell, bordering on the “Let’s kick his ass” level. But Maxwell was smart enough not to give the teachers a reason to kick him off the school though. His grades were usually like B+ and B, because he always knew to search a nerdy person sensitive to manipulation. So he got enough knowledge to get high grades every time.
College
Now College... that was a different story. Maxwell’s selfish, now also greedy behaviour sometimes angered people so badly his silver tongue didn’t helped anymore. After being roughed up by a couple of Rodians, he developed a fear of aliens, that eventually became a disgust of them to cover it up. Not to mention his father’s way of treating aliens... he used to treat them bad as well, so the correction from the home front never came. No, quite the opposite. His parents, and especially his mother Alyssa, learned him aliens were only good enough as slaves without even realising it. His grades were dropping as well now, because finding people to manipulate became harder and harder. It even became so bad he actually had to study sometimes. Sure, you always had the geeks that could be manipulated into helping a little, but it didn’t proved to be successful all the time.
Republic Academy
Ah yes... the Republic Academy. Those were the two worst years of Maxwell’s life. He always dreamed of becoming something high in the fleet, were he could command subordinates all day long. But the reality proved to be quite different. Manipulating fellow students proved to be impossible due to no small part of the strict Republic Discipline. Maxwell found out he had to study all by himself for his grades. Okay, there were classmates that he befriended (simply because he knew his self-centered, greedy behaviour wouldn’t get him anything than trouble here), and they helped him most of the times.
And then there were the female instructors of some of the courses. The flight instructor, for example. Maxwell loved the time they spent in the Flight Simulator. Although they never did anything that had anything to do with flying. And his classmates kept thinking he was talking about simulations every time he asked her what they would do this time.
(Footnote: The story mentioned above isn’t confirmed to be true. Knowing Maxwell it's probably a lie anyway.)
Dropping out of the Republic Academy
His parents finally found out about his greedy, self-centered behaviour during a break in Maxwell’s second year of the Academy. (Talking about being naïve and simple minded...) Until that day, he always knew to cover it up good enough to fool his parents into thinking he was a nice boy. This discovery would lead to a huge fight, resulting in Maxwell shouting he never got anything. That resulted in a blow to the bridge of his nose from his sweet father, and that resulted in Maxwell running out of the apartment and never coming back.
That day, Maxwell McMassey made the biggest mistake in his life. He estranged the entire McMassey family. He knew it would infuriate more than a few of his family members, but he didn’t cared. Daddy Miles was too civilised to kill him, Uncle Matthew was ill, Nephew Mitchell was dead and Newphew Michael was a weak ass.
A liar’s life
Maxwell knew he could return to Coruscant to apologize for his behaviour, but he was too proud, and he didn’t even knew for sure if his father would accept his apology. So he was forced to live with the choice he made. Not that he disliked it. This new life was exciting. He just had to be careful and take the right risks.
He started travelling from planet to planet, not staying on each planet very long because he got to popular with either the law enforcement or the thugs he talked out of their credits. He became an outcast. Not that he cared though. There were enough shuttles going from and to planets to keep moving. He didn’t had any possessions side from the clothes on his back, a blaster for self defense, a datapad and a credit chit with a small amount of credits. Enough to stay alive and moving, not enough to settle down somewhere and stop living the outcasts life.
He is currently trying his luck at Nar Shaddaa. Probably a very bad choice because of all the thugs and other scum there, but Maxwell doesn’t gives a damn. He mostly relies on his silver tongue to talk his way out of things. And if his silver tongue fails, he relies on his ‘run like the wind to the nearest shuttle to another planet’ tactic. People who want to lose some credits or want him to lose some teeth; you can find him hanging around the Spaceport or the cantina.
