Personality

Myla Venn is good to the core. She believes in democracy and believes that there is more to life then warring and fighting. She as a person is ready to do her duty, as a senator and as a Chandrilan. Compassion, devotion, loyalty, respect…These words would be silly or naive to most, but not to her, she sees these things as paramount to a full life. She is brave and she is strong of will. Never afraid to say what is on her mind, caring little for the consequence in the heat of the moment. To other people she could seem prideful, but that is because she is. She learned a long time ago that she should believe in herself, as others would then follow. Myla is known to be very outspoken and a true leader. Never the less, she is caring for her fellow, never enjoying to see anyone hurt or angry. It was such things that led to her appointment as senator.

Myla possesses the rare blend of an analytical mind as well as a kind and caring heart. She can she what needs done, and sometimes suffers the pains of doing it because she cares so much for the people she represents as a Senator. She knows that sometimes you had to fight for the little people even if they don't always appreciate it. Not just Chandrilia, but all the galaxy.

She also had a deep respect for the Jedi order, knowing that they are the reason the galaxy held a certain amount of peace for a long time. She simply could not believe the stories that were told of their treachery. Her faith in the republic at large started to fade, as she heard more and more stories of Jedi deaths, public executions and imprisonments. Part of her still wanted to belive in the republic but the other part of her could see the corruption.

History

Myla Venn was the only child of Meyana and Dula Venn, a prominent and respected Chandrilan couple. Dula was a high-profile criminal lawyer, while Meyana, in defiance of the gender roles defined by Chandrilan society and culture, was a brilliant nuclear physicist, whose work on the cutting edge of hyperspace technology earned her galaxy-wide fame. Both of her parents instilled into the young Myla a strong ambition and a sense of her own worth. Raised on a diet of progressive ideals and encouragement to be all she could be, Myla Venn was an outstanding student as a child and a young teen. Naturally bright, with a keen insight and an unquenchable appetite for knowledge, she excelled at nearly everything she turned her hand to. However, to the disappointment of her mother but the very great joy of her father, Myla showed a particular interest in law and politics.

Her parents took her off-world for schooling on the galactic cultural hub of Coruscant; showing remarkable leadership qualities, and an almost instinctive grasp of political matters, Myla went on to further her studies in xeno-sociology and law on Coruscant. Taken on as a junior diplomatic aide to the Senator for Chandrila, Rayna Taz, Myla received a direct education in the squabbling and petty bureaucracy of the aging Old Republic. The young woman saw clearly a government descending inevitably into chaos. Like many others, she recognised the need for reform, but Myla knew that Edwis Josdon, even then beginning his rise to power, was not the answer.

During one of Senator Taz's diplomatic missions, this one to the Noghri homeworld of Honoghr, the senior politician was murdered in the most vile way; a deadly poison had been slipped into her food, and she died in extreme pain. Marekh, a young Noghri warrior and the first son of the maitrakh who guested the Chandrilans, was accused of the murder, for he had previously been associated with a radical organization on Honoghr, and certain circumstances made the guilt seem certain. Myla had formed a friendship with Marekh, however, and she knew that he was not Rayna's killer. Despite her grief, for Senator Taz had become not only a role model, but a friend, Myla made clearing Marekh's name her particular mission, and uncovered evidence that provided him with an unquestionable alibi. With his honor cleared, Marekh owed Myla a life-debt, and traveled with her off-world as her self-assigned protector and bodyguard.

Rumour put the true responsibility for the assassination at the hands of Josdon's agents, for Rayna was one of his staunchest opponents in the Senate, but nothing was ever proven. Myla, as Rayna's protege, was selected by her people to represent them in the Senate. Although still young, Myla was intelligent and possessed wisdom and insight beyond her years. Stronger and more assertive even than Rayna, Myla led the Chandrilan people through the tremors that shook the Galaxy as Josdon seized power and overthrew the Jedi. She knew from the beginning that she would be a target for the rising Emperor's retaliation for her opposition to his regime, but Myla, and the Chandrilans behind her with their support, resisted the growing centralization regardless. More than one attempt was made against her life, and Marekh became her constant companion.

Now, with the Senate dissolved, Myla is no longer a Senator. She still remains the leader of the Chandrilan people, however...
