This page highlights the OOC (out-of-character) history of the Evolution Simulation.
June
06.15.05 -Tais and Neilor/Joel Heredin start an EZ-Board dedicated to the formation of an original character driven, RPG/Sim. The name Star Wars Evolution is chosen by Tais.
06.22.05 - Evangeline is unwittingly pulled into the fold via an email from Tais. She agrees to serve as forum director. The pair had met several years prior and had often talked of creating some sort of RPG.
06.25.05 -Aeria agrees to Tais' request to join the staff and serious work begins. Aeria is given the task of being Members Director. Tais and Aeria had met months prior on a defunct SW RPG.
06.26.05 -An initial home is established on Invision Board.
July
07.11.05 -Ciara Palmera joins the staff as Force Director.
07.31.05 -The plot/backstory nears completion, Aeria starts pushing Tais [harder] for a launch date.
August
08.01.05 -We tentatively open on Invision to the public after weeks of behind the scenes planning.
08.03.05 -Nara Avensi becomes the first person to join SWE outside the original admin and staff group.
08.04.05 -The first scenario is launched on SWE Invision, it is called: "Avoiding Imperial Entanglements." It was never completed.
September
Early September -Spirits are low and traffic lower and talk of abandoning the project begin to emerge.
09.19.05 -The last member post is made on Invision, and for all intents and purposes SWE dissolves as some staff members move on to other endeavors.
September -Tais keeps his RPing spirits high by becoming an active participant at Star Wars Epics, a board he'd looked over a few times, but never really knew much about prior to this. Their energies renew his desire to revisit Evolution as an idea and he begins to revamp the backstory.
November
November -Aeria has continually prodded Tais not to let the idea of Evolution fade until he finally agrees to resurrect it on the much more viable and visible EZboard networks.
11.14.05 -A home on EZ is established and the board undergoes set up.
December
12.05.05 -The new board is officially opened to the public, though people had been stopping by for a few days prior.
12.05.05 -Paige Garrel becomes the first official character to join SWE's new home.
12.17.05 -Tais names Aeria as his co-owner for her contributions in keeping the idea alive during the months he was certain it would fail.
February
02.25.06 -Aeria returns after a LOA to move to another country. Her desire to see SWE succeed is as bright as ever.
March
03.10.06 -Evangeline steps down as an administrator to focus on her college work and job. She remains as Art Team Director and as an RPer.
03.10.06 -The Outer Rim Sieges: War Drums becomes the first completed scenario for SWE. It covered a mere 46 IC posts, and lasted roughly 3 real world months. It saw the death of two actual PCs, and ironically no NPCs.
April
04.11.06 -Rhiara D'Loroc assumes the position of SWE's 3rd Administrator.
04.20.06 -The Role Play Commission is formed in order to ensure quality RP, storyline continuity, and to keep SWE at the top of the RP game. It is proclaimed to be the first such group in existence on any Star Wars related RPG.
May
05.03.06 -Joel Heredin, an original member and co-founder, is named as Director of the RP Commission. His insight into the back-story and understanding of where SWE wishes to go proves to be phenomenal.
05.17.06 -SWE holds its first ever 'Town Hall Meeting' chat in which the staff hears suggestions, comments, complaints, and compliments from the members. The creation of a website is also announced during the meeting.
June
06.05.06 -SWE relocates from the EZ network of boards to its own dedicated website, www.evolution-rpg.com. The coming days would see much rejoicing as the new site was completed.
06.26.06 -A new chat service is launched on Diaspora Games IRC Server.
July
07.21.06 -A member controlled photo gallery/album is installed.
August
08.07.06 -The Bio Approval Committee [BAC] is formed to ensure quality control in relation to new member applications. The BAC is made up of 3 members of SWE.
08.21.06 -Mydnyte Syn takes over as News Team Leader
08.21.06 -Caleb Primm and Kalista Xenyn assume joint leadership of the Art Team
September
09.05.06 -SWE switches to the X-7 chat program which is java based and housed on our own server.
October
10.22.06 -Aeria Voru Retires
10.29.06 -The new database, using Mediawiki software is opened to the public for perusal and editing.
November
11.09.06 -SWE receives three [3] awards from Empy awards.
11.14.06 -Kalista Xenyn assumes sole leadership of the Art Team.
11.24.06 -SWE adds a Street Team to its team roster.
11.26.06 -The Database is reorganized with a new front page.
January
1.11.07 -SWE launches the Mentor Program and SWE 101 to help guide new members who join SWE.
April
4.1.07 -Tais and Rhiara fool some members with an April Fool's day prank describing a romantic relationship.
4.28.07 -The domain and host are renewed for an additional year.
June
6.1.07 -Kalista Xenyn joins the staff as the third member of the Director team.
July
7.16.07 - The Database undergoes a facelift to match the existing color scheme of SWE. A new main header is added as well as further spotlighting of the characters with 'ghosted' images appearing in the upper left hand corner of the database.
September
9.24.07 - The Database gets it's 2000th article.
November
11.19.07 - Kalista Xenyn retires as an active member and administrator of SWE.
11.20.07 - The Novel Graphics forum returns, again allowing members to request art work from the Art Team.
11.29.07 - A software upgrade is installed allowing the journals forum and the news forums to go away and for these features to be visible via the blog software.
December
12.07.07 - The SWERPA winners for the quarter are announced.
January
1.07.08 - A new board hack is installed allowing members to block user signatures, allowing for faster load times for dial up based users.
1.19.08 - SWE establishes a Hall of Fame to honor both IC and OOC achievements on the site.
February
2.5.08 - The SWE Database Team returns to active duty in improving and expanding the database.
March
3.14.08 - Rhiara D'Loroc inducted into the OOC Hall of Fame.
3.17.08 - Falastur Luran inducted into the OOC Hall of Fame.
3.18.08 - Mydnyte Syn inducted into the OOC Hall of Fame.
3.21.08 - Kalista Xenyn inducted into the OOC Hall of Fame.
3.24.08 - Tais Voru inducted into the OOC Hall of Fame.
April
4.2.08 - Falastur Luran inducted into the IC Hall of Fame.
4.16.08 - The Role Call is relocated to replace the Active Character database entry.
May
5.21.08 - Mydnyte Syn upgrades the software used for the SWE Forum and gives it a whole new look.
5.21.08 - A temporary moratorium is placed on non-aligned military characters.
June
6.14.08 - The SWERPAs are announced for the quarter.
6.24.08 - Mydnyte Syn joins the administrative staff.
July
7.3.08 - SWE holds a Town Hall Chat.
7.6.08 - The Ask the Directors forum reopens after being closed for a brief time.
7.16.08 - IC News access is placed on the forums, and IC news resumes....again.
7.21.08 - Subforums are introduced for several forums, including faction planning and team support.
August
8.4.08 - A new review tag is added to the database.
8.9.08 - The profile feature on the main forum is upgraded to allow a favorites listing for each member.
8.12.08 - The IC news portal is removed from the database mainpage due to redundancy.
