Personality

Pietro is best described as a silent cynic. He doesn’t trust anybody and certainly won’t begin to trust them if they say ‘trust me’. This philosophy mostly applies only to humans and several other sentient races, particularly the near human ones. Instead of giving the people he comes into contact with the benefit of the doubt, Pietro will automatically assume they’re lying until proved otherwise. Even then Pietro will still be a little suspicious. He also finds it hard to believe that anybody could genuinely do good things without a hidden agenda.

Once trust has been established Pietro is loyal to those he considers friends. He’d do just about anything for those he cares about, even (as he’s stated several times) cut off his shooting hand and throw it into space. Friends are one of the most important things in Destari’s life, that and his family. Despite a few half-hearted attempts on Bannek’s part, Pietro has never met his birth mother. He’s still devoted to his surrogate mother, Aunt Dot and keeps in regular comm contact with his father. As far as his daughter Lamia is concerned, Pietro would do anything in the world for her. Pietro avoids saying or doing anything that might seriously scar Lamia’s young mind, even though there are a few occasions where he does slip up.

When not playing the good father, Pietro Destari is not a man to cross. Raised in the Coruscanti under levels and serving in the police force has given him a decent amount of street smarts. Add to that an insatiable desire to solve any puzzle that comes his way, it’s no wonder that Pietro manages to know so many things about so many people. He’s like a dog with a bone in that respect, he just won’t let go until he’s sure he’s covered everything. Pietro dislikes the Empire on principle. They got into power by devious means and have quite frankly made the galaxy much worse than it was. As far as he’s concerned, the new Empire is just another puzzle to be solved.

History

Pietro was the product of an affair that wasn’t supposed to go anywhere. His mother, Liana Fellarius, was the daughter of a wealthy Corellian merchant with a reputation for being a bit of a party girl. She’d been growing bored of the high society types she’d been seeing and wanted to slum it for a few nights. To her, the handsome young mechanic her father had hired to repair her damaged cruiser was just what she was looking for. In comparison, Bannek Destari, an up and coming mechanic from Tatooine, only expected the affair with his employers daughter to last the duration of the job. It was painfully obvious to both parties that Bannek and Liana would never get along outside the bedroom. Farm-boy Bannek and rich-girl Liana had little else beside unquenchable lust in common. About a month after the affair had ended, after Bannek had moved in with another woman and Liana had moved on to her next conquest, things took a turn for the worse. Liana was found to be pregnant. After tests proved that the baby was indeed Bannek’s, the young man was physically dragged to the Fellaruis estate where he married Liana at blaster point. Eight months later, their son Pietro was born.

Initially it was decided that Pietro would stay with his mother, leaving Bannek to continue his work. After Liana all but abandoned her young son to continue the partying lifestyle she so loved, Bannek insisted upon taking Pietro. Liana agreed, only on the proviso that Bannek never contacted her again. Bannek agreed, and Pietro never saw his mother again. He moved back in with Dorothey “Dot” Hobbs, a buxom woman whom Bannek regularly stayed with while he was Coruscant. Dot agreed to help look after the young Pietro while Bannek went off world to find work, falling in love with the little blonde baby the moment she set eyes on him.

Pietro spent most of his childhood in the company of Aunt Dot, only really seeing his father when he came to Coruscant for a break or for work reasons. As a child Pietro was just like any other curious little boy, going off to explore his surroundings whenever Aunt Dot’s back was turned, somehow managing to find his way to the more disreputable parts of the planet. When he was old enough, Aunt Dot enrolled him in the local school, insisting that a good education would be good for the boy. At school Pietro was a bright enough student, earning good enough grades to receive a scholarship to one of the more reputable schools of Coruscant. As young Destari progressed into adulthood, it became exceedingly clear to those who met him that he was nothing like his well known father. Unlike Bannek, Pietro had no love for machinery only the deductive mind of a mechanic. Pietro was more of a people person, preferring to solve his friends problems than anything else. By the time he graduated Pietro still hadn’t figured out what he was going to do with his life. Eventually, after trying a job as a store vendor, Pietro enrolled in the Coruscant Police Academy. After graduation Pietro joined the force and never looked back. It turned out he was ideally suited to police work. With his natural desire to solve problems, Pietro kept working until he’d solved whatever case he was working on.

It was working with the police that Pietro met Rhiannon. Rhiannon Tee, an exceptionally beautiful woman working a desk job at police HQ, had been in Pietro’s graduating class from the academy. After some mild flirtation the pair began seeing eachother seriously. Not wanting to end up in a loveless marriage like his father had, Pietro waited a couple of years before finally proposing to Rhiannon. Five days before his twenty-third birthday, Pietro and Rhiannon were married in a private ceremony with only their respective families in attendance. A few months later Rhiannon fell pregnant with the couples first child. Unfortunately, due to complications during the birth, Rhiannon would never see her child grow up. Rhiannon died five days after Lamia’s birth, leaving Pietro to raise his daughter by himself.

After the death of his wife, Pietro took and leave of absence to get over his grief and begin providing for his daughter. When he returned, he took a desk job until he retired from the Coruscanti Police Force to better care for Lamia. He was spending more time at work than he was at home, something Pietro had vowed never to do. After the establishment of Josdon as emperor and the Jedi Purge, Pietro and Lamia left Coruscant to find somewhere to live away from the Empire. Since then, Pietro has sought out the rumoured rebellion, where he hopes to aid the group in their fight against the Empire.
