Born on Coruscant 35 years Before the Purge, Remielan was the only child of Rylorn and Ismerelda Deimos. His father was the Head of Day Operations for Congressional Crystalline, a window manufacturing and replacement company, and his mother - until shortly before Remy was born - worked as a receptionist for Bithuband, a musician's booking agency located in the CoCo District. As both parents were fairly young, they both held full-time jobs in the hopes of one-day having a family that they could fully support, without the worry of not having enough money. When Rylorn and Ismerelda found out that they were expecting a child, it seemed that their work was just beginning to show signs of paying off. Ismerelda retained her job until just into the seventh month of pregnancy when signs of a possible complicated pregnancy were discovered. With Rylorn making more than enough money at his own job, they did not chance having something bad happen that might harm prospective mother or expected child.

Remy's birth was rougher than even the slight signs of potential complications had alluded to, and Ismerelda's medical condition was very touch-and-go for several days after her firstborn. It would later be discovered that she would not be able to bear future children. And while this fact might have caused some resentment among certain families, the two counted only the blessing that they beheld within their newborn son, Remielan. And as an only child, they spared little expense that they could handle for their son, though were careful not to spoil him needlessly.

Growing up, Remy's childhood days were wildly uneventful. His schooling was roughly average until he reached his seventh year, when he began to seriously consider a possible future career. A bit young for his age to truly consider it and perhaps not the first choice of most children his age, Remy set his sights on joining the Republic military. His parents, while not overjoyed with the decision, kept their personal reservations to themselves, contenting themselves to keeping him on task with his studies so that he could do as he wished. Most others his age that he associated with wanted nothing more than to play shockball or some other more publicized profession, so it was little surprise that Remy began to distance himself from most of them. It wasn't something done consciously, but rather something that just happened. The fact that schooling came a bit harder for him also helped contribute to that fact as he spent much of his free time studying rather than playing around.

By the time that he was to graduate from standard schooling and enroll in the Academy on Coruscant, he had managed to work himself into a most successful routine for schooling and studying. It wasn't fool-proof, as evidenced by him finishing only in the top 20% of his class, but it was his success. It proved to him that hard work could pay off and that was more important to him than for those that hadn't the need for studying and had breezed through school. It was a solid work ethic, one that would stay with him for the years to come.

Remy was 18 when he joined the Academy on his home planet of Coruscant, carrying with him a solid determination and regimen of study that propelled him as it had during his previous years. He was far from the top-student at the Academy and only flirted with a top ten percentile during the first semester of his second year, but the instructors saw in him a determination that they appreciated. They saw in him one that would not back down when the chips were stacked against him and one that valued hard work and not those things that were simply handed down. Certainly, there were others of a like mind and he was not singled out in most situations, though there was one bit of a difference that would affect things later on. His affinity and understanding of electronics and most importantly, those electronics associated with detonation devices.

It was for this reason that while many others moved directly into active service once their four years were up, Remy was given the opportunity to transfer to the Academy on Raithal, the most renowned training center that the Republic had. He was sent for more specialized training that dealt with a slightly darker side of military operations. Not necessarily an elitist, per se, but his continued excellence in the areas of demolitions had caught the eye of several of his instructors who put in for his transfer - a nomination that was ultimately approved despite his average at best ability with other weaponry. As part of a team, he would have his area of expertise that would be balanced by others within his eventual squad. In his spare time, he would continue and does to this day, work on his ability with a blaster pistol to the point where he is a touch better than average in that regard.

At Raithal, Remy was subjected to test after test with both the setting and neutralizing of demolitions. Additionally, he was taught and tested on the subject of espionage and stealth tactics, all of which were to further his insertion into one of several Special Ops squads that would eventually be stationed back near the Core Worlds. He finally graduated from the Academy on Raithal and joined the Republic Army with the rank of Second Lieutenant that he had earned upon his initial graduation from the Academy on Coruscant.

With being stationed so close to home, Remy was able to keep in touch with those few that he still did associate with on Coruscant. One of those people was Rhyssa Satler, a girl he had gone to school with and had dated on occasion. With his drive for studying and achieving the ends that he had placed for himself, he didn't allow himself the luxury of having a steady girlfriend during his younger years. That did change after he joined the Army full-time, even though he was often gone for extended lengths of time. Any leave that he was allowed, he spent courting the woman that would later become his wife. Two years into his service, he achieved that exact end and the two were married. With his missions oft-times being off the record, and spread out across the galaxy, it was necessary that she would remain on Coruscant in a small apartment that they could just afford with his military pay. In the time that he was gone, Rhyssa busied herself with a pair of jobs to help span the gaps between when he could send money home, as well as to help build up to the point where they could get a nicer place.

His years in the Republic Army took him to various places across the galaxy and gave him a rather vivid view of the ugliness that existed. More than a few times, his squad was charged with exacting a bit of justice upon a crime lord and his syndicate. None of those missions were on the record, of course, which was always something that bothered Remy's new wife. She knew, as well as he did, that if anything did go wrong, it could be quite a long time before she heard of it. And that his silence about what he had done told her that she would likely never learn what ultimately had caused his death. Rhyssa did her best to cope with this realization, but the knowledge did put the beginnings of strain upon their relationship.

The final straw came two-fold and ultimately led to Remy's decision to leave the Army after his four-year agreement had been fulfilled. First, there was the nearly failed mission on a discovered slave compound right on Coruscant itself. Everything had gone according to plan until one of the men mistakenly triggered a secondary sensor that alerted the guards of the compound that the operatives were there. Two of Remy's men were injured and Remy himself was injured by a fragmentation grenade, a piece of shrapnel lodging just below his left eye. He and his men were able to get away without any of them being captured, but the operation was a failure. By the time that anyone could plan another assault on the compound, it had been cleared and the slavers were gone.

The second reason for his decision to leave the Army was the news that he received three months before his tour was up. His wife was pregnant. With the dangers that came with the job, he didn't want to risk the chance of something happening and leaving his wife alone to care for their child. The news was a great relief to Rhyssa who welcomed Remy back to Coruscant when he finally left the Army. He never spoke of what he did and she never asked. It was simply understood that some things in the past needed to remain there.

The Years Following - 7BTP-1.5ATP

Six months after his 'retirement' from the Army, Remy and Rhyssa welcomed a daughter into the world. She was named Kitrana and had all the looks of her mother, according to Remy. The two parents were happy beyond belief. Remy had found a job working for the same company that his father had worked for, the contact within the company enabling him to start out as one of the floor managers. The job didn't pay the greatest amount of money, but the salary coupled with the money that they had been able to save enabled them to move to a nicer apartment in a better part of the city. It also allowed Rhyssa to stay at home and not have to worry about rushing back to work in order to make ends meet. For three years, they pretty much lived the perfect picture card of a life.

But it was quite apparent that civilian life in the basest use of the words wasn't all that Remy thought it would be cracked up to be. He put in more hours at his job, simply for the fact that he needed to be kept busy. He had spent most of his life working to achieve a certain end, and now that he basically had done so, he felt as if he were simply drifting along like a stalled speeder. It wasn't that he was unhappy with his wife and child, just that he didn't feel enough of a challenge from his job. It had worked for his father, but it had been apparent for years that Remy was his own person and wasn't quite satisfied with just good enough.

One day, he received a call from one of his former superior officers who had recently taken a permanent position with the Imperial Security Bureau. He offered Remy a job as an agent within the Anti-Terrorism Unit on Coruscant, a job that Remy was more than qualified for and one that he would spend most of his time behind a desk. There would be the occasional field operation, but the analytical skills that Remy had learned in the Academy and in the Army itself would be put to great use there. After reassuring Rhyssa that the job would not be as dangerous as what he did in the Army - or so he was led to believe - he accepted the position within the ATU. Deep-down, he knew it was foolish to think that the job would be perfectly safe, especially given the name of the unit he would join, but he knew that it was a better fit for him than some window factory.

As the years went on, the job did prove to be much more than he was told and certainly much more than his wife had expected. So, it was little surprise that the day finally came when she could no longer handle the worry that accompanied his job. By the time he was named Director of the Coruscant Division, Rhyssa informed him that she would be leaving him. The prospect of having to explain to Kitrana why her father didn't come home was too much for her to bear. Remy couldn't leave the job, that much they were both acutely aware of. It was something that he seemed born to do, and she didn't want him to give that up. She simply could no longer be a part of it.

The two divorced peacefully, as there was really no love lost between them. Perhaps there was too much love for their situation to work. And given the length of time that the two had known each other, they agreed that ending things sooner rather than later was the best course of action, rather than risk destroying all that history. The two remain on relatively good terms, and neither of them have dove back into the relationship pool. In some ways, there may be hope that the door will remain open for the day that they can once again share a life together, though that much remains as up in the air as the current state of the galaxy.

As another stipulation of their divorce, though it was more of a means of protecting both his ex-wife and daughter, as well as limiting any chance of them being played as a card against him, Rhyssa retook her maiden name when the divorce was final. Additionally, Remy used his contacts with the Imperial Security Bureau to have any and all record of his marriage removed from his personal files. He reasoned that such was done to prevent anyone from finding out about his personal life and using it against him or using it to play him as a pawn for some grander scheme. It was always something that could later be changed back, if the need arose.

Since the change in regime, it's been business as usual for Remy. To him, his job and his duties are the same as they always have been: To protect the populace from harm and to monitor possible terrorist activity. In most cases, these are one in the same. Lately, though, more attention has been focused upon those within Josdon's new regime. With the widely spreading rumors of rebellious cells and dissidents throughout the galaxy, more scrutiny has been placed upon those in positions of power within the new Empire. Perhaps it is only an extent of paranoia, but more than a few oddities have been uncovered in recent weeks and months, though nothing that can be considered concrete enough to move against. Collaborating with other divisions across the galaxy, the ATU keeps close tabs on those closest to the Emperor and also those that openly oppose the new regime, including a wide-open investigation into the whereabouts of Rebel Yell and other insubordinate groups.

DH-17 blaster pistol - While normally reserved for the Navy, ATU agents are issued a DH-17 for both its stun setting to aid in taking captives for interrogation, as well as its armor-piercing ability and relative longevity in the field. Most agents fire only as a last resort, and the DH-17's power pack and gas chamber make the weapon quite effective in the field.

22T4 Hold-out blaster - Issued as a back-up weapon for ATU agents, as well as a weapon more easily concealed when the need arises.
