Personality

Tarion is a very intelligent individual. He enjoys seeking out things that challenge him mentally. More often than not, Tarion does not have the time to purse mental challenges for fun, as he spends a large portion of his time making and designing weapons. He can be a very hard worker when he wants to be and will often take on a project with great enthusiasm, although he has difficulty focusing on a task and as a result will work on many different tasks.

Tarion is naturally cautious and will calculate as many possibilities to a scenario as he can, which makes it rather difficult for him to make a decision. Once he comes to a decision it is very unlikely that he will stick with it for very long due to the fact that it doesn’t take him long to find a flaw with it. When working his decisions almost always stick since he already has a general idea of what he is going to do with the weapon he is creating.

Even though he makes weapons for a living, Tarion prefers non-violence. He realizes that in some instances it is unavoidable to have violence, but he views people that don’t use their brains to find other solutions to their problems as idiots. He knows how to handle a blaster and knows the basics of blade combat and if he ever had to defend himself he would not hesitate to do so.

When he meets someone for the first time, he will usually just ask a few simple questions and let them do most of the talking just until he gets a sense of what the person is like. Once he becomes acquainted with a person he is usually able to talk for an extended period of time without getting tired of being around them. Tarion can get along easily with most people that he comes across but there are some types of individuals that he tends to avoid, such as those that are insulting for no reason, think they are better than others, and impulsive people that don’t take the time to make rational decisions.

Tarion does not like to show anger or grief and will act as though nothing is wrong if something does bother him. While he appears calm on the surface, the bottling of his emotions causes him a lot of stress, and he will often take it out on those that don’t deserve it when it becomes to much for him to deal with.

Belongings

2 vibroblades which he inherited from his father, custom black durasteel armor, a small home on Coruscant, and a beach house on Ord Cantrell.

History

Tarion began his life on the planet Coruscant. He was born in the year 23 BTP to his parents Dorian and Amara Ketris. As a young child, Tarion spent most of his time sitting at home with his mother and sister. During his days at home he’d often play games with Kittani or listen to his mother tell him stories. He didn’t get a chance to see his father as much as he would have liked since Dorian was an officer in the Republic military. However, whenever Dorian was home Tarion never passed up an opportunity to spend time with him.

Over the next few years his relationship with his sister began to change significantly. He had first noticed the change when he started attending school. When Kittani was his age, his mother had told him about how well she did and that having an education was extremely important. Because he looked up to his sister so much, Tarion strived to achieve the marks that she had at his age. For some reason that he couldn’t explain, Kittani seemed to be increasingly hostile towards him. His father seemed to give him more attention and encouraged him to do well in school, so Tarion figured that Kittani was being unfriendly because he wasn’t as good as she was.

Try as he might to better himself in school, he still couldn’t get Kittani to approve of him. His mother told him that it was a phase that all teenagers went through, but Dorian just encouraged him more even when he seemed to fall short with his grades, making Tarion believe that his father encouraged him simply because he wanted his son to achieve as much as Kittani had in school. Coming to this assumption, he tried even harder in his studies so that he could achieve high marks. When he was 10, Dorian had retired from the military and was at home more often. This gave Tarion more opportunities to bond with his father and find out more about him.

His grades started to slip the more time he spent with his father. Tarion couldn’t help that he wanted to catch up and get to know his father and in doing so he neglected some of his school work. His grades weren’t horrible but they were no longer outstanding like his sister’s were. Often times when Tarion was with his father, he would listen to stories about Dorian’s career in the military and made it seem as if it were the best thing in the world.

Two years later, Dorian had fallen victim to an unknown illness. The doctors couldn’t figure out what plagued Tarion’s father, all they knew was that they didn’t know what to treat. They tried to treat him based on the symptoms that he had but nothing seemed to work. Knowing that his father didn’t have much longer he promised Dorian that he would follow in his footsteps and join the Republic military. His father died that night, and even though he was sad, Tarion couldn’t help but feel peace that he had made his father happy before he died.

The next few weeks in the Ketris household were tough. Everyone was still saddened by the loss of Dorian and they hadn’t gotten used to the fact that his father wouldn’t be around anymore. During this time Tarion’s mother was a wreck. She had difficulty functioning on her own and the fact that he announced that he’d be joining the military eventually just made things worse. After seeing the state that his mother was in, Tarion decided that she would need him to be with her and not risk getting killed. Besides the main reason he made the promise was to make his father happy before he died and he had accomplished that. The more he thought about the military the more he didn’t want to join. There was a good possibility that he’d have to fight and he had never been the type that liked to hurt people.

Kittani didn’t like that he had broken his promise to Dorian and felt that he should live up to it. When Tarion still refused she took it upon herself to enlist and Amara became an emotional wreck again. He tried to reason with his sister not to leave but she wouldn’t listen and ended up leaving despite his best efforts to keep her at home. Since that day, Tarion hasn’t heard any word of Kittani but he could care less. When she left he saw it as her abandoning, their mother when she needed them the most and he has told himself on many occasions that he can’t forgive her for that.

Tarion finished up his education while living at home with his mother and when he turned 18, he became the apprentice of a local weapons maker. At first it was just a way for him to make a living since it was close to home, but the more he learned about making weapons the more he enjoyed what he did. When he was 22, he felt that he had enough knowledge to start a business of his own. He knew how to make blasters and was very good at making blades. It took all the inheritance money that he had to buy a small workshop and the resources needed to begin making weapons.

The first year of being in business for himself was difficult. The weapons were good quality but he couldn’t charge outstanding prices for them since he wasn’t well known. So what he did was decide to give those in the military a discount on the weapons so he could get business. Eventually through word of mouth people began to come to his shop because of his quality weapons at low prices. By the start of his second year in business he knew that he needed some help. Not by making weapons but just simple things, like taking orders and testing the weapons.

Tarion only interviewed one person for the position. It was a Felacatian by the name of Melari. She was quiet, reserved, and seemed intelligent. The qualities that she showed in the interview were exactly what he was looking for and that was someone who wouldn’t have to ask a lot of questions and was quiet enough so as not to disturb him while he worked. Over the past year though, Melari has slowly revealed that she is the exact opposite of quiet and reserved. He continues to keep her around as his assistant though because she is helpful and she keeps things interesting around his workshop.

Recent History

NPC

Melari Serasai- Tarion’s assistant. She helps him out by bringing him drinks and helping him test out the weapons that he makes. Melari has the usual physical traits of a Felacatian*. She has large green cat like eyes, a long tail, short, light blond fur that covers her body, and jet black hair that hangs down to her shoulders. She is 5’6” and weighs about 120lbs. Melari has a small frame with an athletic build much like a runner. Melari is often very sarcastic and will speak her mind whenever she gets the chance to do so. Unlike Tarion, she does not like to work long hours and would rather go out and have a good time. She gets bored quickly and when her boredom kicks in she tends to touch things in Tarion’s workshop that she shouldn’t. Melari hates dressing up and will usually wear casual clothing.

Additional Information

  • Felacatians were a race of polymorphic felines native to the planet Felacat. In its normal state, the average Felacatian was a tall, humanoid being with near-human characteristics. The only tell-tale sign of their alien lineage was their short fur and long tail. However, when a Felacatian was forced to stand hyperspace for an extended period of time, or when they experienced any level of stress, a Felacatian's body began to change. Without an outlet for their stress, the Felacatian's body shifted its form, becoming a huge, predatory cat. In this form, the Felacatian was extremely dangerous, and was protected by a row of heavy spikes along its back.
